I don't recall a 12" of "The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan"; there was one of "Broken English" which was the title of the LP that "Lucy Jordan" was from (1979), but it was the same as the LP version.

I love "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan"; it was written by Shel Silverstein, the author of, among many other things, the children's book

    THE GIVING TREE.

I never understood why it wasn't a hit single in the U.S.; was it a hit in England? Ohgawd, here I go again...

"The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan" has been released

in Europe and has been a Top-Hit in Germany

and Austria about 1980. My Favorite of

    Marianne is "Broken English"...the 12"-Vers.

is different from the Album-Track. Also the

track "Why D´ya Do It" is a massive Reggae-

    Disco-Rocky-Track with very strong lyrics.

    Marianne Faithfull's new album

    Hi fellas,

taking advantage of the new FORUM format, we can bring these past, forgotten topics to life again! Does anybody here have listened to Marianne Faithfull new album, KISSIN' TIME? It's brilliant, one of the greatest albums of 2002. She worked with some bright stars of the contemporary pop-rock scene on the album: BECK, BLUR, BILLY CORGAN and JARVIS COCKER. The combination of Marianne's grave, powerful voice and the nu electronic sounds of today is absolutely thrilling! The first track, SEX WITH STRANGERS, recorded with Beck, is a great dance track with a wonderful lyric, you must hear this one. Another great moment: I'M INTO SOMETHING GOOD, the cover of the pop classic written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin and originally released by THE HERMAN'S HERMITS in the 60's - it's a deep moving record, a bright pop song recorded by a torch singer. The contrast is beautiful - I had to dry a tear when I heard this one for the first time. Wonderful stuff.

    Highly recommended.
