I believe it was on the Siamese label approximately 1981.
I just got a compilation disc and was curious if anyone can say when the track "Magnifique" by the group of the same name was released. What label put it out?

Dear Discodjinn!
If you mean "Magnifique" prod. by Anthony
Monn then it was orig. released in 1979 as
12" in Europe.
Cosmic Love & Kisses From SIRIUS & DARKTUNES
I have a copy of Disconet Volume 4 Program 6 with the incredible Bob Viteritti remix of Magnifique by Magnifique. The original DJ News insert says the song originated "from Ariola in Europe and now on Siamese slipping down from the busy Canadian record pressing plants." On the label of the vinyl the credit is "Courtesy 1981 Siamese (Monn-Ludemann-Dahmen)."
My old buddy from Aloha Records, Keefe told me the tale that a now-deceased friend of ours from that store-- Michael Neuman (spelling?) AKA "The Si-Reene Of Sound"-- was the person that actually introduced Bobby V to "Magnifique". Michael used to play all the new imports for Bobby V back in the day--hence, the Remix for Disconet came to be.
I've also heard a rumor that Bobby V. might be interviewed for this site in the near future. OR wasn't I supposed to say anything??? Hey, it's called "creating a BUZZ" in show biz!!!!
Keefe & I both feel we should be getting a fee for ALL the P.R. work we've done in the past, extolling the virtues of Bobby V. at this site!!!!!

Well, it's true, I have been speaking with Bobby V. for an upcoming interview. He is a real character and holds nothing back. Don't have a time frame yet, but I'm shooting for Haloween or is it "Disco-ween." Stay tuned folks...

Bernie,
Whew!!! I'm glad THAT announcement has been made!!!! I was busting a gut to start spreading the news!!!!!
What I'd love to hear Mr. V expound upon is his theory for creating "The Drama" of an evening. I've heard him mention the whole concept of spinning as "A Theatrical Event" akin to a musical on the stage.... and there were all sorts of tricks and ways of getting the crowd into the music and under the DJ's spell...I'd love to hear some of that stuff discussed. I know that DJ's don't like to reveal their "trade secrets"...BUT, Bernie see if you can Woodward/Bernstein him into revealing things!!!!! I'd love to be in that room ...or on that phone line!!!!
I'm sure Keefe has some suggestions, also.

Actually Mark, that was Robbie Leslie talking about the DJ lessons from Bobby V. when both of them worked at the Marlin Beach in Florida. On 2002-09-19 15:26, markydefad wrote:

Bernie, ask Bobby to elaborate on that cool combo! Bobby did indeed tell me that the late Michael Neuman, of Aloha Records, did indeed introduce him to Magnifique. I think he told me that Michael called him up at some ungodly hour to scream about the import.
There are lots of other questions I've been dying to ask "Miss V," but for some reason or another, I haven't had the opportunity to ask (or he won't answer!). I'll be curious to see if Bernie will cover any of those questions in his interview (Hint, hint, Bernie). I'm really looking forward to seeing the interview!
