I think its Black Ivory on Buddah/RCA with "Will we ever come together" from 1976. If I heard the chorus, I could definitely verify it. I strongly believe it is this, because I've heard this song on NY's Rhythm Review with Felix Hernandez.
PS I always thought Black Ivory's stuff sounded newer like "Mainline" sounds early 80's and not 1977.
hello, i think that it's wrong black ivory
I strongly think I'm right on this one after given a few days to think about it. I have no way of checking since it has not been out on CD. I don't have it and I can't go to allmusic.com to check. I know Felix Hernandez from Rhythm Revue played the track alot. Another tough to find artist in that vein is Webster Lewis. He had an album from 1980 called 8 for the 80's that featured DJ Rodgers on a track called "Heavenly". Again I can not check because its not on disc. But I believe my original inkling about Black Ivory and the track "Will we ever come together" is correct because I've had it in my head ever since I downloaded the sample.
The link has expired, can you repost the sample.

qdear:
It had a double long verse where in the apex the lyrics were "its calling out to you, its calling out for me, I'm just a lonely man" or something near that as it goes into the second verse without a chorus. I think the chorus is at the end of the song and follows a intro-verse1-verse2-chorus pattern.
