THIS SONG IS ALWAYS ON THE BRAZILIAN RADIO:

A faded photograph I mailed to you
With feelings I don't want to face
and a long song of surrender in blue
I remember when you took my breath away...

DO YOU KNOW THE TITLE ?

It's "Papillion (Hot Butterfly)" covered by Chaka Khan; originally done as "Hot Butterfly" by Gregg Diamond's Bionic Boogie with Luther Vandross singing the lead.

Luther also did backing vocals on Chaka's version. This must've been strange 4 him 2 do after singing lead on Gregg's version.

Marky, if u r there, is Luther V. 'out' gay in the U.S. or in the closet? I see him as how George Michael used to be i.e. the industry seem to know about his sexuality but many of his fans seem oblivious, not that its v.important, I'm just curious.

Steely Dan, to the best of my knowledge....Luther has NEVER "come out"...BUT it's just an accepted fact that most everyone knows..BUT nobody says anything.

Hey, I say that very nonchalantly....BUT, apparently lotsa folks didn't know that Rosie O"Donnell was a lesbian although it seemed damned obvious to everyone I knew. So maybe Luther's lady fans live in denial...I don't know. Johnny Mathis admitted he was gay a few years ago...no big whoop. Miss Manilow has never made such an announcement...BUT how STUPID are you not to "get It" that men of 50+ years who have never been married and had no girlfriends are probably, oh I don't know...real picky or, uh....GAY????!!!! DUH!!!

I never knew much about Barry Manilow's love life but as soon as I discovered he used to play piano for Bette Midler at a NY bathouse I got the picture! (how strange must it be to play piano while lots of naked men cruise round for sex?!)

Marky.....from what I know about Barry M, he was married very young in life....I guess that was before he dipped into the waters of the Continental Baths....

My friend and co-worker, Sylvia, who works next to me, is Luther's most ardent fan and SHE knows that he bats for the winning team, but doesn't care...I asked her if her fantasies were shattered and she said "No, that is why them call them Fantasies..."

Hey, and this is the very first time I have ever heard about Luther V being gay... oh well... why not, I still like his voice.

I guess Gwen Guthrie was lesbian, huh?

It's more than likely that the most either Bette or Barry would see are men running around in white towels. This was the rule at Man's Country and I think the Continental Baths had the same. No nudity in the "public" or "dancing" areas. Of course, these were good-sized buildings so just walk out the door and up or down one flight and WATCH OUT!!
