RHYTHM MAKERS - Zone, an odd choice I know, but unless you were there, you just can't know the incredible effect this track had back in '75. It's the only record I ever played that had people asking about it virtually every time it was played. You see, I was working in Spain and had fresh punters every few days in effect.

"Lovin' Is Really My Game," Brainstorm.....I remember when it was first released and it only made a so-so impact and I kept asking Steve Stoff at RCA why he wasnt' pushing it hard enough and he said there was too much of a glut out there.....

All of a sudden a few months later it started creepin' into clubs and up the charts...after various remixes began showing up...I have an original pressing I believe from Canada with a leopard-patterned sleeve...

It seemed like like this song was around for three years.....i know it was originally released in 1977 and to me it represents so much of the good dance feeling I had for my disco years.....

"Let's groove" by Earth, Wind & Fire. It passes the test of time. But of course there are many others.
Blax, maybe this is another step on a South American brotherhood Can Pelé and Maradona hug each other?

Blax & Nano: This should put a smile on your face.
Quite often I'll listen to one of my local radio stations on a Saturday night ' cos they play Disco music from 6pm - midnight. They tend to play all the hits plus some fairly awful (english) pop Disco records, always lotsa Abba, Bee Gees plus the odd gem (such as 6 minute+ version of Disco Nights by GQ last saturday).
My fifteen year old daughter has only ever called one record 'gay' (modern teenage speak for not very good in England).
Yep you guessed it, Let's Groove by EW&F.

Well my number one song is about an outside portable dunnycan      . It's:

Bobby Sax & The New Messiah - Out House 73 1973

It's a killer funk song with a really cool fast moving funk/guitar wah wah sound. Don't worry they don't sing about **** and piss, this song is an instrumental and supercool too. That's why I put it at No.1 . You can here the song in Mr Finewine's playlist Oct 13th 2000 at http://www.wfmu.org/Playlists/Finewine/soul.0010.html .

What came a close second was "Movin'" by Brass Construction, it's been my favourite since I've started 1998 when I got away from mainstream disco and started pioneering rare underground disco and funk music. I first heard it on Mastercuts Classic Funk Volume 2.

Now that's one SUPERCOOL funky groove and very OILY too  . How did they create such an oily sound using their guitars? This is one of many rare funk/disco songs I downloaded from Audiogalaxy.

Australia mate! The land of many great funkateers!

Since our funk fans have come out in full force , I feel someone has to add some Euro/homo disco glitz to the mix:

My No. 1 song is "Rumour Has It" by Donna Summer.

No one who has read some of my other posts should be surprised by this choice. Ideally the entire "Once Upon a Time" LP would have been my No. 1 pick, but Bernie specified single songs only, and I think "Rumour" best represents this excellent production.

As Toto wrote in a different thread, this song has all the elements that make disco great: strings, horns, synth, a great beat and a diva who can actually sing.

Disco1999: "Love Insurance" is No. 7 on my list! Again, strings, horns and a diva--you just can't beat that combination!

For me it's OK, Quinny, but that "gay" labeling actually hurts me!
As punishment and also to show this "punter" the true nature of this pair of Argie & Brazuca disco fans, I suggest for her to send a couple of well-rounded school girlfriends for us. They will LEARN and spread the word, believe me!
(Quinny, you can participate in the selection of the girls. As a disco father, I trust your taste...)

My favorite funk/dance tune of all time is Fight the Power by the Isley Brothers. Better funk to dance to is hard to come by.
groove on & may the funk be with you

Steely: It would be elitist if I didn't explain why I put it at #1. Like I said, I never knew another record that had such a profound effect on people. See, other great records were very quickly known and so the effect was never the same. This record remained a largely unknown disc and so the effect it had was startling. Of course It HAD to be #1. The rest of my chart contained lotsa big,big disco hits.
