See what you guys have started. My house is in disarray ' cos of all the 12", LPs, 7" and cassettes that I've dragged out in the past few weeks.
I have a box of about 70 or 80 tapes of when I was working. I used these to help me work out how my mixing was going, whether I needed to do things differently and of couse for posterity, knowing that one day I would have forgotten a lot of the tunes or not still have a lot of the tunes.

One of the tapes I came across is from 1985/6 when we had EDWIN STARR do a personal appearance. He did quite well doing these all over Europe (and the USA?) and could still be doing them.
On the night he was in fine form, the voice being instantly recogniseable as one of the true Motown/Soul/Disco greats. There was nothing quite so sophisticated as specially made backing tracks, just Edwin singing along to his most of his (and others) greatest hits.
    Contact 12" version
    S.O.S. 7"
War 7" + solo voice half way through
I Heard It Through The Grapevine - solo voice
Sam Cooke's WOnderful World - solo voice
Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye - solo voice
    Happy Radio 12"
then as an encore a verse or two of
    How Long
    I Can't Help Myself
    This Old Heart Of Mine
Time and as a Finale back to
    War

    Quite a night to remember!

I have a good surprise when I heard "Contact"-Edwin Starr- in the movie "54", the scene was Salma Hayek teaching dance.
By the way, if you want, go to
