Disclaimer: this is not to be taken very seriously, but anyway.....

I've noticed that whenever I'm at a mixed gay/straight party, the crowd which at the start of the night seems to be about 50/50, ends up being mostly gay by around 6am, and by the after party the straights are all lolling about on couches exhausted while us queens are still going for it on the dancefloor! Do we do it better? Or just more dedicated to partying? ...... or just nothing better to do?

Radio celeb Al Rantel makes a point that is spplicable here and probably true. Men are like the gas or the accelerator on a car. Women are like the brakes.
I'm not sure how this works for the grrrls/lesbian set though. With their secret society it remains as much a mystery as Atlantis

    Born2disco,

    Love that "Sex Dwarf" tagline!!!!

"Luring Disco dollies to a life of vice" indeed!!!!!!!!

To answer your question, although I'm from the "older generation", it seemed in my day that gay guys had to wait a long time to get to the point where they could graduate high school or college and move to a city where they could actively "BE GAY". So those years of pent-up frustration often led them to embrace a wild and crazy lifestyle: Party, Party, Party and then PARTY some more!!!!! Sooooo...whereas straight kids got to live their sexual & emotional growing pains in public...gays had to keep theirs secret and when the floodgates were allowed to open...ALL HELL COULD BREAK LOOSE!!!!

That's the way I remember it. Things have changed somewhat, I'm sure. The repression is a little less intense...BUT once the kids get out from under the watchful eye of their parents and others who would disapprove...PARTY TIL YOU DROP, DUDE!!!!!

I agree with Marky about the Gay suppression and then the lid is blown off the cover, etc....and that is a reason for the non-stop partying late into our upper decades. (I wish!)

As far as on any particular night gay vs. straight...when I was part of that late nite exploration...I generally never stayed out beyond 3 or 4 o'clock as I was dancing so hard and so long that I couldn't stay awake for any longer than 5 in the morning....rare if I did...

I guess since I actually "danced" to the music, coupled with the fact that I was doing so while being "straight" (my only hallucinogen was the music) kept me away from the wee small hours of the dance floor.
