Cararra - Disco King is by far the cheapest tackiest cover I can find. Its beyond description.
Do you have any favourite HI-NRG record sleeves in your collection.. any that are REALLY tacky ??
I was looking through some of mine last night and did have a laugh at some of these...
EARLENE BENTLEY - I GOT YOU COVERED (Dodgy 80s perm with tacky red feather boa)
CAROL WOODS - NEVER SATISFIED (Another dodgy (purplish) hair do !!
SEVENTH AVENUE - THE LOVE I LOST (3 blokes in tacky black/white cycling short type thingys)
CAROL JIANI - SUCH A JOY HONEY (Outrageous Tina Turnerish hairdo with tacky broach clipped to some kinda headscary thing)
MAN 2 MAN - Who knows what evil ? - extremely camp/Cloney type look !
Cararra - Disco King is by far the cheapest tackiest cover I can find. Its beyond description.
The worst hi-nrg 12" sleeve artwork I've seen is the one for Midnight Sunrise's 'On The House' from '86; Ian Levine at his fattest dressed as a gangster!!!:o :???: (also Damon Rochefort is with him in the picture & he now writes scripts for Coronation Street!!!!:o )
...ya gotta beat the street......
Pretty much any of the Seventh Avenue stuff on Nightmare especially this one for "Armed Robbery" with the guys in tiny shorts at the gym on the front and just wearing draped towels in the shower room on the back.

Oh and what about some of Sabrina's sleeves? This one was always a bit of an embarassment:

And some of the Vicki Shepard Loading Bay releases were rather over the top. I espcially like the one of her in the fork lift mirroring the Loading Bay Logo!
Does anyone have the 12" Ian Levine did with Lily Savage? That has a pretty bad cover if I remember correctly !
OK, I just have to say this is a great topic. I did some web searching and dug up pictures of some of the sleeves you guys mentioned that I hadn't seen that I thought I'd share for anyone else who hasn't seen them.
EARLENE BENTLEY - I GOT YOU COVERED
CAROL JIANI - SUCH A JOY HONEY
MAN 2 MAN - Who knows what evil ?
SEVENTH AVENUE - THE LOVE I LOST
Is this the Midnight Sunrise 12" you guys were talking about? The 12"s I saw for "On The House" all had a black and white cartoon cover. This one does have "On The House" on the b-side though.
I couldn't find the Carol Woods or "Disco King" though.
I'm not sure all of these are 'tacky' really...just of their time. The 80's were a bit o.t.t. after all !
The glamour shots of Earlene Bentley and Carol Jiani especially are awesome, totally 80s.
Love the 'LIME' cover, girl with the cocktail glass....
Also i think it was Bobby O - I cry for you, a Roy Lichtenstien picture of just one tear, very pop art
Masterpiece, you should have seen it - That rainbow in the moonglow. Masterpiece, you've got to live it - That new dawn tomorrow!
<<Good choices.. I have both those releases.. i remember buying that Seventh Avenue release way back in `87 from HMV..Odd looks from the staff behind the counter >>
LOL
I remember buying MAN 2 MAN "Energy is Eurobeat" 12inch in a used record store and the 3 guys beind the counter passed around the jacket to watch the back cover with the locker and the I NEED A MAN picture !!!
From then on my sister bought these tacky covers for me !!!
KRIS
I recall having to order many of the hi-nrg records as my local store did not stock that kinda music. When the records arrived the bitch behind the counter always made some snide comment about me buying this "trashy gay music" and asking me where I had heard these tracks...
Think Nightmare definitely take the prize for the worst covers. Some of them were just plain horrendous
