Well, since I am responsible for the "sausages" .... I better give my records to Nicky to spin..

But my picks for a lazy summer BBQ would be:

"On The Beat" by The BB&Q Band (very apropos, it just came to me when I typed BBQ)

    That mixes beautifully into:
    "Watch Out" by Brandi Wells

    Then maybe:

"Quiet Village" - The Ritchie Family
"You Know How To Love Me" - Miss Phyllis Hyman
and oh, "Spring Affair/Summer Fever" by Miss Summer.

Excuse me, I gotta watch the weenies...
Hey, Caroline!!!!....what are pouring on the potato salad??????!!!!!!!!!

    Watch Out!!!!

And don't worry about any UNINVITED guests!! I haven't fed my ROTTWEILER for three weeks!!!

    Jazz,

I'm one of those crazy Americans that likes a good beer that isn't chilled. I'll take that bottle of Guinness just as it is

I'll throw a few songs on like,

Eddie Kendricks - Going Up In Smoke
    Dennis Coffey - Scorpio
Jackie Moore - This Time Baby
Voyage - From East To West
Don ray - Standing In the Rain

Then again, we can put one of FunkyDude's excellent Super Rare CDs and be done with it and get partying.

    Hey Jazz.
I'll add a little Jamaican spice by bringing some jerk chicken and jerk pork along with some Red Stripe beer.
I'll go all over the map musically and add "Girl From Ipanema", "Now That We've Found Love" and "Computer Games."

Oh, hell. Summer BBQ and Disco ---**** the diet!

Let's have a little "Bourgie, Bourgie" by Ashford & Simpson so we can be ever so 'bourgoise'. Then we can go "Cruising for Bruising" with Basia and take a walk through "Summertime" with MFSB. We'll ask Cheryl Lynn to "Keep It Hot" 'cause I'm getting hungry!

How about some early 1970 with Mungo Jerry's "In The Summertime," (wasn't he from England?) and then some "Sunset People" for seasonal touches - followed by a "Summer Dance" by The Ritchie Family and then maybe we can have some "Summer Love," by Musique to finish off the night!

Well if it's a sultry night I'd want to jam so first off PASS THE PEAS - JBs then GIMME SOME MORE - JBs and lets get DOIN' IT TO DEATH - JBs. Now that everything's on the BBQ, it's doing nicely, lets up the tempo and get everything HOT, HOT, HOT - Arrow (again I know, hadn't seen your last post before I started typing JAZZ) until, with everything flaming nicely BLACK IS THE COLOUR - Wilbert Blackmire and everything is CISSELIN' HOT - Chuck Cissel.

    Mmmmmmm, tastes good.

Grazing in the grass - The Friends of Distinction
    Holiday - Mandrill
    Weekend - Class Action
Mysteries of the world - MFSB

Sorry but I'm told you guys do strange things to meat up there... I will bring on my own "tiras de asado" to cook "a la criolla"! There's plenty for those who want to try them. They go well with a bit of "chimichurri" and a tomato/lechuga salad.
But I won't say no if there's some wine to taste...
About the music, lemme see... will try a bit further with the reggae thing:
    -"Bush doctor" (Peter Tosh)
    -"The Ku-Klux-Klan" (Steel Pulse)
    -"Night nurse" (Gregory Isaacs)
    -"Police and thieves" (Junior Marvin)
and then the Clash version of "Police and thieves" just to steam those pieces of meat a bit... Ñam, ñam! (biting sound)

You know what I love after a good meal like this... a little acid... JAZZ

Let's try a light touch with "Here to Stay" by Special EFX; move to "Bitter Sweet" by Shakatak; then Maysa can take me away with "What About Our Love". Maybe a little Vibrophonics, "I See You", to get us back on track and Al Green letting us know he's "Full of Fire". So am I, Al... and I'm hungry again. Sausage, anyone...

Nicky, you do know that American Idol's Justin performed "Look of Love," on the Bacharach night of tribute songs to the composer...? is that what put it over the top for ya, kid?

WARNING: GAY SEXUAL INNUENDO ABOUNDS IN THE FOLLOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Gawd Nicky,

I just flashed on the idea that my response to your "Look of Love" proposal might have been misunderstood. Jeez, let me explain.

First off, I typed that in response to the previous post you made ("Sausage anyone")--But it posted after your modest proposal.

What I was referring to was a line from "Castro Boy" (a parody of "Valley Girl") wherein the "Castro Boy" says "Gag me with a cock"...but, out of respect for the sensitive stomachs of the breeders, I changed it to the "Valley Girl" line "gag me with a spoon"---BUT, I just had a flash that this could be interpreted as an insult!!!!!

    NOT MY INTENT!!!!!!!

A modest proposal for a little brotherly love is most flattering. I hope you got the joke.

Besides, you are 6'7" tall--I can only begin to imagine the depth of your love!!!!

"How deep IS your love" or as Miss Midler once cracked about a former beau "We had a deep and meaningful relationship....well...not THAT meaningful...BUT REAL DEEP!!!!!!!!!

OK, now that I've offended everyone, I will end this little plea for understanding.

Marky - better have another sausage!!

    Back to the music:

It's time for a few favourites from my year of 1977:
Dennis Coffey - Wings Of Fire
    Mandre - Magic Mandre
Jacksons - Let Me Show You
Philly Int All-Stars - Let's Clean Up The Ghetto
    El Coco - Cocomotion

Who's nicked my Roy Ayers CD???
    BLAX???

    Anyway, time for some desserts:

I'm just about to put some peach halves (marinaded in honey) on the BBQ, and we can eat 'em with ice cream!!!

(and before people bombard me with dates etc - this is what I heard in the clubs in 1977!!!)

    Peace
