    Question Forgotten Heroes? RUFUS/CHAKA KHAN

One of the most perfect combinations ever IMO but....was their music too difficult? Too jazzy?

Music was more soul&funky, but more soul than funky, and so wasn’t nor difficult and nor too jazzy, like no any “difficulties” with Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston or Meriah Carrey, for example.:)

Hey Raven, the music was definitely more soulful. Then again you'll notice the music had more real musicians.8-)

I recently had a mad moment & acquired many of their LPs on cool Japanese CDs (miniature versions of the original LPs in cardboard sleeves/original artwork & evreything) & it struck me how every LP had a different style e.g. 'Masterjam' is very disco, 'Street Player' is very jazz-rock, 'Ask Rufus' is quite soulful & introspective, 'Rufusized' is raunchy/funky & 'Camouflage' is boogie/r'&'b. One thing they have in common though, they're all fabulous!:p

I have that Chaka remix CD & I think it's mainly dreadful except for Clivilles & Coles' re-modelling of 'Clouds' which works quite well. Danny D's remix of I'm Every Woman is an abomination IMO - why spoil a perfect record like this?

Sorry to change the subject just wee lil' bit but I just got my hands on a Pet Shop Boys remix of West End Girls. It is ABSOLUTELY atrocious. So I can relate to getting some pretty bad remixes of some of these classics including Chaka's!

Excuse me, my american english is not so strong. But, maybe, all what You wrote means, that being no musician, I’m talking too much about music with having not enough notice to judge it.
Well it’s up to You, but during last 15 years I’m the rock&funk bassman. Not profescional, of course, because playing music is not the money-job for me. To play bass is very scientific thing – only in right-way-playing the music will sound like it must. So, every time when I’m writing here, I understanding not only, why the sound sounds like it really sounds, but understanding what must be done to make this sound indeed, real and true.

Sorry, if I wasn’t right and didn’t understand, what You really told me about.

I love everything by Chaka. It's great soulfull, sexy music.

have you heard " you never miss the water " with Meshell Endigichello ( I know I butchered the name ).

    It's a fantastic song.

Chaka looks great in the video in my opinion. Very sexy.
I used to frequent the LA disco scene in the late 70\'s. My favorite discos were \" My uncles, Dillons, the Tiki\'s, Odyssey 2000.
