    Paul Parker

    Hey Guys,
Just wondering where I could find a discography of Paul Parker's albums. I know he's got a Best Of...but what are his original albums and how would you rate them....also was he big in the gay discos? I asked some of my gay club friends and they said he probably was but they don't know much about him...

Paul parker hails from the bay area of SanFrancisco and was one of the areas big HI-NRG stars of the 80s along with Linda Imperial and Jo Carol Block. I have his debut album on LP/Vinyl and the greatest hits CD. He recorded well into the 90`s with UK producer Ian Anthony Stephens on the Klone label

I haven't got any of his LPs but I know much of his stuff was produced by Patrick Cowley or Ian Anthony Stevens who almost exclusively made Hi-Nrg or gay dance music of the 80s.

Gosh, Paul Parker, Ian Anthony Stephens and the San Francisco bay area. A winning combination if ever I heard one.

It's strange that the internet isn't more giving on Paul Parker's discography, perhaps it's because he has a popular name...

Those of you coming to tomorrow (Oct. 8th) night's "Remember the Party 5" event, at the former Trocadero Transfer, could ask Paul what's he's been up to yourself! He's a close friend of the producers and he's been to all of the past parties. Plus, he created and sang brand new songs for the first 3 parties. :-D

Thanks for the info guys. Will try to look for his albums and cds. It's a shame though there isn't a website for him...Would like to see what he looks like now....he was "hot" in the 80's and hope he still is!!! Is his latest cd/album called "Destiny"?

I own his Megatone album called "Too Much To Dream", produced by Patrick Cowley and it IS good, has the typical Patrick Cowley sound. "Shot in the Dark" and "Right on Target" were very big in the San Francisco discos. The only other songs of his I'm familiar with are the ones on his Unidisc collection. I give him credit for tackling Giorgio Moroder's electronic classic "From Here to Eternity." That song sends chills up my spine....

IMO, he shouldn't have done a cover of that track, as nobody could ever hope to come near Giorgio's 1977 original. My favourite track of Paul's is 'Love Is On The Line' ('83?).

Has anyone heard "Wicked Mountain" by the Midnight Cowboys? It's on the new Klone album "Mad About The Boy 14." It's a dance version of the "Brokeback Mountain" theme with what sounds like the acapella of Paul Parker's version of "Wicked Game" over the top. It's cute though personally I just don't think that the "Brokeback Mountain" theme works that well in any of the dance versions I've heard.

You can hear a clip of it here: http://www.klonerecords.com/releases...nfo.php?ID=267

I've always been a huge fan of Mr Parker.
I remember his TOO MUCH TO DREAM album, the 2 CDs Greatest Hits on UNIDISC and his KLONE album , DESTINY.

He was featured as a co-lead singer on DIEBOLD & CIE's STILL RIGHT HERE IN MY HEART.He is credited on the label ; but his vocals are mixed way off ; but you can still hear his distincitve vocals.

He also teamed up with ANGIE GOLD on a remake of BARBRA STREISAND's I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE. It did come out on a 12inch but is easily found on a US compilation called MAXIMUM DANCE MIX from X:TREME Records from 1997.

    Talking Re: Paul Parker

    Hey Everyone,

I come bringing some amazing news...as of YESTERDAY (November 6, 2007) Paul Parker has a brand new single, "Just Hold On to Love", available on iTunes, Amazon.com MP3 downloads, and other digital music sites.

There's a one-minute preview of the track, and direct links to iTunes and Amazon, on his new (and under construction) web site:

    PaulParkerMusic.com

This is truly a brand new original song, recorded and produced in San Francisco during 2007!!! It definitely pays homage to his work with Patrick Cowley, but with a contemporary finesse, especially on the vocals.

Go check it out and tell me that his voice doesn't sound stronger than ever!

    Much Respect,

    nessness

The song is great and the thought of a brand new full album warms my heart.

Hope this one also sports an oh-so-hot cover shot like TOO MUCH TO DREAM.

I was lucky to see Paul live in concert at Flashback in Edmonton Canada way back in 1983 when his first album came out. He sang 4 or 5 songs and then signed autographs afterwards - I still have the autographed picture. He was accompanied by his partner/manager at the time. Nice to hear he's still active in music.

    CDnBob,

Guess what...he's still with his "partner/manager at the time"...26 years strong! I know because I had Thanksgiving dinner with them last year. Well, for more reasons than that...but it's a very fond memory for me.

    Re: Paul Parker

Yesterday I saw a post in the general discussion section on the Klone forum that talked about Paul's new single release. I listened to the one-minute preview of that track. Fab track! :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin: I am soooo looking forward to his new album and the new original songs. Does anybody know if his album will be released in the US only or if it will be released in the UK/Germany/Europe as well?

From what I can see , the single on iTunes is an international release ; so I don't see why the album wouldn't be.
