4 Disco Albums - You Rate 'Em

I was at the flea market and got 4 unopened disco albums that I had never heard.

Which one should I open first?

    1) Unyque - Makes Me Higher 1979

    2) T C James And The Fist 'O Funk Orchestra - Get Up On Your Feet (Keep On Dancin') 1978 - Mix By Savarese

    3) Gary Toms - Turn It Out 1977 - I know and have other Gary Toms, but I dont know this one.

    4) Bob McGilpin - Superstar 1978 - I know Superstar. How about the rest of the lp?

    They were a buck each.

I've only got the Unyque LP (I've got Bob McGilpin's 2nd LP 'Get Up' but not 'Superstar') and I quite like it but it has a slightly formulaic, bland sound. There were much better records around in '79 in this 'proto-hi nrg/ girly disco' mould such as Musique, Bobarela, Fever, Inner Life, Frisky and Ultimate. However there were many LPs from that year & that overall sound that were worse IMO e.g. Ferrara, Masquerade, Arpeggio, Freda Payne & Ethel Merman. 'Party Down' is probably my favourite track. Overall, I'd give it 5 out of 10.:icon_neutral: Not awful but not essential disco either.

    1) Unyque - Makes Me Higher 1979
I have this one-"Keep On makin me high" is great but there is another track on here I liked that got club play too...hmmmm oh well.. the strongest on your list anyways

    2) T C James And The Fist 'O Funk Orchestra - Get Up On Your Feet (Keep On Dancin') 1978 - Mix By Savarese
I think there is a 12" of "get Up" by Walter Gibbons maybe on a Canadian
12"? Is "Everybody's Dancin' All Over The world" on here-love that one. This
    is a good find regardless

    3) Gary Toms - Turn It Out 1977 - I know and have other Gary Toms, but I dont know this one.
Don't know it -only have the "Blow your whistle" lp

    4) Bob McGilpin - Superstar 1978 - I know Superstar. How about the rest of the lp?
Superstar is a good track.I think there might be another track also on here.
This is one of those rock/disco hybrids that worked on the title track only

    They were a buck each.
I love these dollar finds-and the first two are worth much more!

I've heard of the T. C. James and the Fist O' Funk Orchestra, but I've never heard any of these albums or artists; they sound o.k.?

Unfortunately, I haven't heard the other albums, but I really enjoy the Unyque album. I do agree with the review on the main site though, Side A has the best tracks on the album... So count another one in for that :)
