...because I just got back from a wonderful sale at a record store. I went in there expecting to find maybe half-a-dozen things I was looking for, but lo and behold...

...almost all the disco 12s and LPs were going for $2 a pop!!

I walked (well, staggered) out of there with over 75 LPs. They actually gave me a crate to put it all in. The few steps to the streetcar stop seemed like miles... but the hernia was well worth it. Here we go...

    Hey Graham:

You picked up so many great buys....

Can I come over to your place and dance?

btw....is that Kathi Baker record on Tomato Records?.....If it is, I got that one from a pal who worked there on Houston Street in the West Village..they had some really interesting stuff..Doug Riddick, was his name....does anyone else remember him?....not sure if he is still with us...or, for that matter, Ms. Baker!

Well, if you really want to make the drive to Toronto... sure, why not?

Oh, and this Kathi Baker is on Deco, which is a label that I've never seen another release on... although it was also released in Canada. Actually, this copy will replace my Cnd copy, which is badly warped.

God I wished I lived in Canada. You guyz have loads of stuff I like. I recently got a 7" single of Duncan Sisters 'Boys will be Boys'; is the LP good too?
That THP LP is good isnt it? I managed to get that LP in Paris in June (Dancin' is Alright is my fave track). I've just read Pete Waterman's autobiography (sad, I know!) & he mentions Willi Morrison & Ian Guenther as friends of his.

    Trust me, you don't.

I'd like to stress that this is the find of the decade for me. There are only four shops in the city that have any disco at all. This particular one is owned by a fellow who drives to the US every month to get stuff to resell. He doesn't put much value on most disco, but he sells funk and jazz records at absurd prices ($100+ each). Since most of the records that I bought are neither cult-status nor on obscure labels, his usual rate for them is between $3 - $6 each. But he's picked up such a huge number of them over the years that he's decided to unload them, so he can make room for more Brazilian jazz LPs at $300 a disc.

Yes. Also check THP's "Tender Is The Night" LP, as the Duncan Sisters provided the vocals on that one too.

Actually, I think it's their weakest LP, although it has some "interesting" points to it, such as the use of an early digital synth that would have cost an absurd amount of money at the time. "Two Hot For Love" and "Tender Is The Night" are their best LPs IMHO.

They worked together during the early 80s, but I've never heard any of these productions...

Damn, Graham, this has really been your month for finding music. Hell, I'd make a trip to Canada to hit that record store.

BTW - I have only one 12" on Deco Records: "Fa La La (Feel The Heat)/Dance To The Music", by Kathi Baker. I guess she was it for that label.

Nope.. Kops has boatloads of 7" singles, but not much else. My find was at Cosmos.
