I tuned into the MTV awards but I spent the entire 2 hours talking on the phone. These awards shows are soooo damn borrrrring and lack entertainment. The same ole cliche, the same ole tired and talentless performers, same ole clothes, same ole songs etc.... In my opinion, there are toooooo many award shows today:

    1.Grammys
    2.MTV
    3.VH1
    4.People's Choice
    and maybe three others.

Eminem made an ASS out of himself as usual - picking on Moby. But at least the crowd booed him on stage. He knows who to **** with, he's an ******* but he's NOT stupid!! How come he don't start **** with groups like Metallica or Motley Crue because he know that he will get "jacked"(beat up)! So he takes the punk way out and pick on N'Sync and Backstreet Boys.

Anyway, by 10'o clock, I had enough so I turned to channel 9 NEWS. The show took place in Radio City Music Hall not too far from my job but I didn't have any interest to stand by the curb and get a peek at a celebrity. The only celebs that I want to see are Vin Diesel, Benjamin Bratt, The Rock and Benecio Del Toro. As far as the rest of them, who cares!

There you go bringing up Vin Diesel again. You just break my heart when you do
Anyway, I think you may be at the point Delight where like me, you watch to see who looks hot. To hell with the rest of the self congratulatory stuff. I haven't seen these shows lately however. The only ones that come to kind now is the Little Kim titty display and the Tony Braxton skin tight outfit. Did I miss anything like that this year on the MTV awards?

I never bother watching award shows as they are pretty boring.

In Australia we do get some of the American music award shows, and we have an Australian award show called "The Aria Awards" and I don't watch that either  .

Commenting on Eminem, indeed he's a complete arsehole as well as he does shithouse music, how dare he give Moby a hard time . Moby is one of very few decent dance/funk music artists around, I've heard some of his stuff on pop radio and it's fantastic, especially the "James Bond Theme" and "You've Got Hard Funk" which has a supercool funky bassline. Anyhow good to know everyone booed the **** out of him for it, and he's also going to cop a booing from Australia too, "BOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU SUCK EMINEM!!!!!!!!! ".

Australia mate! The land of many great funkateers!

Don't worry my dear, Vin amd the rest of those guys are just fantasies. Should I send flowers and a box of chocolates?

As far as who's wearing what, Britney and Christina had on your usual fun clothing: micro/asymetrical mini skirts, thighs exposed, flimsy fabrics etc....If Christina lifted her arms, her boobs would have fell out of that criss-cross halter top that half way covered her breast. Jeniffer Lopez had on a nice outfit that was sexy and "tasteful". Gwen Stefani had her own style as usual but the best that I've seen was on Mary J.Blige (a leather lace-up jacket and skirt.) All the guys pretty much look the same except for Michael Jackson with his gold & white leg brace looking boots. It seems like this year everyone was more subtle.

I like Josh Hardnett too! I love his shifty eyes and mysterious look! Did you see "The Faculty"? I think he looks really good in that movie. I like Hugh Jackman too! Who is Cristian De La Fuente?

Paul darling, its just a fantasy, no harm intended okay.

Funky Dude, I was booing that @#$&*%@# Eminem too! He's a punk ass %$#@%@$#*&@^% with NO talent! And I thought Andrew Dice Clay was bad.

I watched SOME of that awful crap show last night--until "Big Brother" came on anyway.

Early on, Britney Spears came out in her black leather S&M Dominatrix outfit and said she was presenting an award to, in her opinion, the "Artist of the Millennium" and introduced Michael Jackson. Jacko, who only shows up at anything to receive an award, said "Wow, artist of the millennium--what an honor"!!!!!

Problem is, there is no "Artist of the Millenium" Award from MTV. That was just Britney's intro....what the award was for I have no idea...neither apparently did Jacko--BUT he graciously accepted and read his usual laundry list of thank-yous (Miss Ross, Gladys Knight & Q were mentioned).

I missed the Eminem controversy...I did see his "number" BUT missed the booing from the audience...wasn't it only one girl??? That's what it looked like from the clip I saw????

The show SUCKED BIGTIME...except No Doubt won a couple of awards and Mary J. Blige won something also. Maybe I'll have to catch a repeat this weekend. They will, NO DOUBT, air it continuously all weekend.

    Marky,
I just came from the store and I didn't see The Globe or Enquirer. To be honest with you, I really don't pay attention to those gossip pages, I'm usually flipping through Essence, Vogue or Elle magazine.

As far as Vin being gay, could it be just another rumor for the new hollywood mega star. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like everytime someone enters "mega stardom" all of a sudden, his name is posted on magazine covers stating or guessing that he is gay - for example:
    Will Smith
    Johnny Depp
    Arnold Schwarzenegger
    Matthew McConaghey
    Mark Wahlberg
    Bruce Willis
have been accused of being gay.

This happens all the time so I'm not sure if its just the same ole tactic to slanderize the new star. Even though I will never have him, I HOPE Diesel is straight!

Well, Godiva has a nice selection of "solid" medium & dark chocolates. Easter time I can send you one of those big solid chocolate bunny rabbits. But knowing how you are, you would want a chocolate bunny in the flesh.

As far as Vin Diesel goes, he maybe a fantasy but he's still my man okay!

Excuse me, closet homophobe....why the terms, "SLANDERIZE" and "ACCUSED"???
What is so terrible about being labeled GAY -
in Hollywood, or anywhere, for that matter?....How about "HONORED" and "CREDITED" with being Gay? I like those terms....

This harkens back to the remark someone made in here about TOLERATING GAYS...it just is so patronizing and insulting....In
my opinion, it usually takes an actor or an actress to die in Hollywood for the truth to come out about their sexuality...and about one third time of the time, we find out that they were "Secretly" Gay or Bi or just Out to their closest friends and family....so we have to get them when they are dead? I guess that is OK, then?

Many gay men have close women friends and many in the film and television industry use women as beards....like Justin Timberlake and Matt Damon.....GAY GAY GAY!!!....what are Gay people supposed to "inherit" only the nerds, the flames and the uglies? No one could care less that Wally Cox or Paul Lynde or Rip Taylor is Gay, but the minute a name like Burt Reynolds, Kevin Spacey or George Clooney comes up in the "rumor mill" as being Gay, the straight community tries their darndest to shoot it down...

I could personally care less if Vin is gay and if he is....he should let it Out, go make another movie, and see if anyone will stay home...if it is worth seeing, they will go see it - gay or not!..

It is not like you or I are ever going to sleep with him, so who cares what sex he is boinking...since when has he become a spokesperson for either the gay or non-gay community? Leave it alone, and have your fantasies with whomever you choose.

The reason why it's so terrible in Hollywood to be gay is because as much as everyone tries to act p.c. on the surface there still exists a lot of homophobia in our society.

If a popular macho male movie star announces he's gay, he'll destroy women's fanatasies and straight men won't want to identify with a gay man.

Another example is when Rosie announced she was a lesbian (btw, I hate that new haircut)her magazine's readers went down.

If Justin Guarini announced he was gay, Kelly would win for sure.

    Are we tolerated? Just barely.

Gawd, what kind of a hornet's nest have we stirred up here, kids????

Being labeled "GAY" in Hollywood IS a nightmare for a male action star and his publicist, no doubt. As Delight pointed out lots of guys have been "falsely" labeled Gay (although some are just pretending they're NOT)... I guess IF you're part of the "star's" entourage and riding the gravy train....rumors of this sort could hurt a career. HOWEVER, look at Tiny Tom Cruiser, the GAY rumors just WILL NOT GO AWAY..YET he remains the #1 Movie Star in the world!!!!!

Now Danceman...come clean with some of your assertions...you've got proof that Matt Damon & GEORGE CLOONEY!!!!! are bonafide "Friends of Dorothy"??????? I've heard some rumors...BUT no one has ever been adamant about the truthfulness of such rumors.

JEFF & I will be MOST delighted to know about GEORGE in particular!!!!!

OK, now back to the topic of this thread..The MTV Awards Show....

The LA Times (Richard Cromelin) says "...everyone was on their best behavior, except Eminem, who looked annoyed everytime the camera found him. The rapper also escalated his running feud with Moby, soliciting a hail of boos with his snipes at the bookish electronic musician ("I WILL hit a man with glasses") as he accepted his best male video award."

He then goes on to praise The Emster's "music" performance as the best of the show and uses the terms "brilliant" and "harrowing" in relation to his set pieces. (Yawn). Whatever, dude.

Well, since Marky didn't do it I will.

Now, DanceMan, I want you to take a valium and chill. HustleBaby, a/k/a/ DiscoDelight, has been with us for a long, long time. Since the old board. And though I know she can (and most likely will) speak for herself, she is NOT homophobic. Reality check: Being labeled "Gay" in this society is very much an accusation and considered slanderous to most heteros. She wasn't putting us down, she was stating a fact. It will remain a fact until the straight guys who get that label tossed their way start responding with a, "So what if If I am? What difference does it make in my singing, acting or job performance?" Until then, careers will be ruined by that little 3-letter word. Just ask George Michael? (Well, maybe a bad example as the tearoom set was a little tasteless.)

HustleBaby, we luv ya! Don't beat up on DanceMan too badly.

Hmmm, well Nicky, I think Delight has proved she can "defend" herself WITHOUT any of our assistance...so I figured that, when she chooses, Delight will Speak and have the "last word", as usual.

Seriously, I understand both sides of the argument--BUT, being falsely labeled "gay" IS considered "slander", whether we like it or not. There are some really cool straight guys out there though, who don't have a problem with it. They have my utmost respect. Yes, Virginia, there's hope!!!! (The guys on "Big Brother" -Roddy, in particular--are sooo cool with flamer Marcellas, that sometimes I just swoon at their evolved states--OR are they just "playin" him???) Hmmm, now I'm getting paranoid!!!!!!

Life is too short and since you only go around once, live it up and, as long as you don't scare the horses, the hell with what others think. That is my attitude.

I guess I expected a little more support from some of the guys above...I was not on a tirade....and whether or not I knew Hustlebaby or DiscoDelite for 5 minutes or 5 years, I would still have had the same reaction...length of time is unimportant when a community of men/women are being talked down to....and if that isn't or wasn't the person's harmful intent, then why her Gay negativity.......It felt like a slap to me!

If she said all blacks should stick to the back of the bus and not make waves, and I was black, instead of Gay, and had the same reaction to her, I wonder if her comments woulda been taken lightly or not?

This is almost like Gay Inversion...

Not to get off topic, but I honestly think most of the rumors about celebrities (Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Whitney Houston, etc) are total bull.

Personally, I think Tom Cruise is a lousy actor and I don't care if he's gay or not. I thought "Vanilla Sky" was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

If that's the worst movie you've ever seen, then I guess you don't see a lot of movies. Training Day, Dungeons & Dragons, Battlefield Earth, Glitter, Freddy Got Fingered... just a handful of recent films that make Vanilla Sky look like Citizen Kane in comparison. Actually, I think Vanilla Sky would've been a great movie if Tom Cruise hadn't been in it.

I'm curious to see what the original Spanish film is like. I suspect I'd prefer it over the remake.

    Danceman,

I feel somewhat responsible for this new contretemps. Hustlebaby has a crush on Vin Diesel. Knowing this, I've been good-naturedly teasing Hustlebaby regarding the gay rumors surrounding Vin. Now, I realize Hustlebaby is a tad "sensitive" as to which team Vin is playing for. That she fervently wants him on the "hetero" team makes perfect sense to me. I don't see that as an insult to gay people. So, I don't think there was anything to get upset about in her response.

If there is, I feel somewhat responsible for provoking that response. I'm just teasing like a big brother would tease a sister about her teenage crush. Of course, my sister wants to believe her dreamboat is straight. If she got a tad vehement in her defense of said dreamboat, I guess I understand. I don't feel it's a putdown of the gay.

Ultimately, I think she can defend herself and clarify her words better than I can. BUT, I do feel like I started this....so I felt I should respond.
