FunkyDude--
I was going over your list and thought I'd add some comments to some of your selections which are faves of mine.
Vol.1--"Sugar Pie Guy" by the Joneses was a good song.
Vol.2--"Dream World" by Don Downing was another good one; it came off of "Super Rare Disco" CD, which was very good. "Dance" by Paradise Express is one of my all-time fave disco tunes. Martha and Izora in the background and doing their thing at the end--Classic!! "When The Fuel Runs Out" by Executive Suite is another great song and also came from the "Super Rare Disco" CD.
Vol.3--"I Love N.Y." by Metropolis is another great one, a definite Salsoul classic from '78!! "Sun Sun Sun" by Jakki I had never heard of until I heard the Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage CD. I have yet to hear the 9-minute version, and I'd like to soon.
Vol.5--"Come Into My Heart" by USA/European Connection was a great Boris Midney composition, and it was good enough to be included on a Billboard Top Disco Hits collection, which was a surprise. "Down To Love Town" by the Originals was a good one too; that was heard in the movie "Thank God It's Friday".
Vol.6--"Sunny" by Yambu is one of my all-time faves. I loved it when I heard for the first time about 10 years ago on a disco classics radio show in N.Y. I have this on a 45, on the Montuno label.
Vol.7--"My Claim To Fame" by James Wells is a song I'm familiar with but haven't heard the full length version of. Donna Summer's "Summer Fever" was great!! I love the part where the tension builds and lets out the oooooh that could give Minnie Riperton's bird calls a run for her money. "I'll Always Love My Mama" by the Intruders was a great 1973 disco classic.
Vol.8--"I Love Music" by the O'Jays was one of their best records. "What A Difference A Day Makes" by Esther Phillips was another good one; she even performed that song on an early "Saturday Night Live" episode in 1975. "Date With The Rain" by Eddie Kendricks was another 1973 disco classic.
Vol.9--"Cotton Candy" by the Sylvers was a song I liked by them.
Vol.10--"Spring Affair" by Donna Summer was terrific and it led into "Summer Fever" on the Four Seasons of Love album; "I Caught Your Act" by the Hues Corporation was another good one; I have that on a CD called "Club Floor Classics".
