Anyone heard the new 2006 remixes of HIT n RUN LOVER ?? Just wondered if they were much cop ??
I'm listening to the MONDO REMIX as I'm typing.
The remake is better than those IAN LEVINE remakes that made the round in the late 80's.
But it doesn't beat the original on CAROL's 1st Lp.
The overall sound euro/circuit type. The song takes a while to kick in and there is a somewhat tribal feel to it but it doesn't quite work as well as the original.

You bet ; I also have this CD ; which I love for the original LEVINE tracks but the HIT "N RUN LOVER cover is awful.Especially when you're so used to the original 12in.
I have bought a 3 CD compilation called STONEWALL : THE GREATEST HiNRG ANTHEMS OF ALL TIME and it includes a housier mix of HIT 'N RUN by CAROL.This one sounds like PUMP UP THE VOLUME drum-beat with tons of house piano on top.
The album is full of tracks by EVELYN THOMAS,JESSICA WILLIAMS,HAZELL DEAN,ASTAIRE,CHARADE,MAN 2 MAN,KELLY MARIE and LONNIE GORDON and many of the tracks are remade.

I'm on a DONNA SUMMER forum also and they have been discussing this cover a while back.
I've yet to hear it but I have loved JESSICA's work since the QUEEN OF FOOLS album in the 70's.
Such a great album with LOVE MASTERPIECE and SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME on top of QUEEN OF FOOLS.

I bought the single cd of Hit'n'Run Lover 2006, but I think the original mixes are unsurpassed. When I listened to the 2006 versions they sounded OK, Carol's tiger cries were there (thank God!), but I liked the earlier mixes better. "Touch and Go Lover" was my favourite track. I have the TELDEC pressing with origianl version (6:53) b/w the U.S. Remix, which I think is great and super cool, haha. Would be nice if this track were remixed or updated to give it a contemporary twist. "Hit'n'Run" was updated too many times IMO.
Would really love a new, extended mix of "Touch and Go Lover" with a looong intro and snipets from the song possibly with vocoder effects.
