This piece of junk features Richard Moll from "Night Court" and 50's actor Cameron Mitchell.

Not to be confused with "Terror Train" a 70's slasher starring scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis and David Copperfield. Hunky Hart Bochner's in it, but I prefer "Halloween" as far as slashers go.

I've seen "Wolf Creek". Starts off a little slow but then......gasp!!!

You didn't like "Crash"? I thought that was good, not something I'd want to see again, but good.

About CRASH: Robert Altman did this kind of film many times, many years ago, much better, and including humor (life is not real without it).

The whole concept of "high drama with issues" smells as old as a Stanley Kramer production. My humble opinion, of course.

But...those are two Pedro Almodovar films and a Brian DePalma title hailed by American Cinematographer as one of the top 10 pictures of the year of it's realese, a film with hypnotic lingering shots of a sexy jewel thief caressing the body of her lesbian lover...? But I'm certainly with you with WOLF CREEK, so refreshing to see non-p/c nitty gritty stuff like that after all the PG-13 junk Hollywood shoved upon us. WOLF CREEK, HOSTEL, TAXIDERMIA, ILS/THEM, please pile on the nastiness! Even SNAKES ON A PLANE was encouraging, with scenes of reptiles biting into eyeballs and people's private parts.

Any sensible person can easily stay away from useless junk as opposed to useful junk ( Snakes On A Plane) by reading reviews and consulting those-in-the-know, but unpleasant surprises still happen or what? The worst one of 2006 so far imo: LADY IN THE WATER, even worse than STAY, an equally newagey "thriller" with a mawkish message. Should have seen it coming though, after the massive turd he squeezed out, The Village...

Yes Jussi, I know you love FEMME FATALE. I'm a big Brian DePalma fan, and Rebbeca is really yummy, but I just couldn't stand the endless plot twists and the overwhelming eye candy... glossy scenes shot just for the glamour of watching them. DePalma has these failures from time to time (RAISING CAIN, anyone?), stories that make something like WILD THINGS look simple in comparison. On the other hand, SNAKE EYES and CARLITO'S WAY are brilliant, first of all because of the plot.

Anyway, I wanted to point out some films with granted consensus from the critics (normally because of who's directing them) that were dissapointments for me (specially because of who's directing them). With Almodóvar, I think after CARNE TRÉMULA he's taking the wrong direction, growing over-sentimental and even audio-visualistic (those music interludes!), the things he brilliantly fighted against in his early years.

Scorsese is another case in point, making bigger and less personal films, entering unknown ground (period pieces and costume dramas, for instance) and proving you can't be a master in every genre. His "society" with Leonardo DiCaprio (a very good actor) has been a disgrace for the careers of both.

Anyway, taste varies in everyone, huh? BTW, I take note of every grade-Z delicatessen you mention here. So many jewels!

I've never seen "Night Terror" and from this list I've seen only "Crash " and Gangs of NY".
I'm very careful with the movies I watch, as wasting 2 hours on a movie I disliked really pisses me off, when I was younger even though I was skeptical of a certain flick I used to go watch it anyways , just because 'I never saw it before' , well I don't do that for the longest already, I don't care to see every thing put out there, "just because' :???:and I don't need to see the good ones right away either, I wait and read reviews and based on that usually get the DVD as I rarely go the theater any longer either, they are not what they used to be (at least in my area).

"Crash" is one of those that is not going to be popular with everyone, but is very well made and acted, and even though the style was recycled from Altman's this can be forgiven, after all is very difficult to create completely original materials, especially for movie buffs like me (us?) that have seen almost everything.:roll:

"Gangs of NY" could have been a great film, (a true story by the way) -Daniel Day's performance along is worthy of at least one spin - , had it not been for Dicrapio and Diaz, they just felt out of place, Dicrapio is a good actor but he just not believable as a tough guy, He always comes across as a wimp pretending to be tough. I try to avoid his flicks like the plague.

Recent duds??

"The constant Gardener"- boring predictable movie from frame one, not to mention the political condescending preaching.

"War of the world" got this because of Spielberg, has it's moments but it just fell short, and Cruise is just so tired already.

"Kingdom of Heaven" Got this one because of Riddley Scott, it has some very nice photography and some exciting moments for sure, but again Orlando Bloom went to the pretty boy 'Dicrapio acting school' and He just didn't cut it as a tough blood thirsty Crusader,- best performance was again Liam Neesom - but I guess Riddley had to work with what is available today.:roll:

Some recent discoveries, some of them have been lingering un-watched in my DVD collection for years now :o

"Mulholland Dr" I need to watch this again , as this is deep! 8-)

"Narc" Rough and Dirty criminal Drama, watch this and see why Dicrapio and Bloom will never be able to play this rolls.

"Donny Darko" (both versions) this is one of the best surprises, and only found out because of the Net :oI've seen it a few times and I'm itching to see it again. The use of the Soundtrack in this flick is phenomenal.

"Swimming Pool" You like sexy mystery Thrillers? Check this out!!8-) I'll bet Jussik has seen it a few times :lol:

"Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" a Classic western by Peckinpah I had never seen :oand only recently released after been shelved for decades mired in controversies. I prefer the 'Special edition' cut over the 'Turner Version'
