K.C & The Sunshine Band appeared in a local club in the late 70's, a friend of mine said "Have you seen who's on stage?" it was Steve Alaimo who started of his career as a recording artist in the early 60's and was co. owner of T.K records. He also produced Harold Melvin who was my friends all time favourite group as he aproached him to ask a few questions Steve's reply was "Out of the way Mother F***r" i don't think my pal has ever recovered from that putdown.

In an interview I saw on VH1 6-8 years ago it was KC who wanted to leave the band for a solo career not Rick. According to the interview it seemed that "Please Don't Go" was the bands version of "Someday We'll Be Together" when Diana Ross left The Supremes. KC wasn't directing the song to one person but in general was telling his audience how hard it was to depart from his bandmates.

As we know KC's solo career never matched the success he had with The Sunshine Band and became known as a 2-hit wonder with "Yes, I'm Ready" (duet with Teri DeSario) and "Give It Up".

I know that episode of Behind The Music. But when you hear Rick's part and the swearing, I love it.

But Rick is also a co-writer of the song.
