Does anyone like the song "Rockin' Chair" by Gwen McCrae. I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned on this site.
Did it get any club play? I've only heard it on the radio.
nrg, I like the song. I didn't start clubbing till a year or so after it came out so I can't honestly say if it was a club hit. It certainly didn't have the staying power in the clubs as other songs from that time had cause I didn't hear it in the discos.
Like I said though, I do like the song.
Find them and destroy them!
"Rockin Chair" did get some play at the time, but it's one of those tracks that hasn't been revived unlike Gwens "All this love that i'm giving" which seems to have been on every other 70's Soul & Funk compilation.

Rockin' Chair is amoung my top 100 fav. disco
this is soooo 70's, and yes ! it was played in discos just as much as live on the air.
If you buy this record your life, will be better.
I was spinning at "L'Index" on St-Denis street, in Montreal when it came out, it was popular and a dancefloor filler.
BTW that's Gwen's then husband, George McCrae, Hollering in the background. I love "Rockin' Chair" but my favorite from this diva is "Funky Sensation".
Two other big tracks by Gwen MaCrae over here - "Keep the fire burnin' " &
"90% of me".
Rockin Chair and 90% Of Me Is You are great tracks, but a gem I discovered on the album is Move Me Baby. That track features a really cool bass riff, which is reminiscent of the George McCrae track You Can Have It All.
Move Me Baby (I hope its okay to post this link from juno, Bernie)
