Salsoul Orchestra and Vincent Montana, Jr.

I loved just about all disco music. There were some trashy, fly by night songs and albums, but most disco music was truly awesome. Being a musician and an entertainer, I was more "in tune" and sensitive to what I heard, and the orchestral compositions of disco were extremely pleasing to my ear and addictive to my soul. One of my most favorite groups was salsoul orchestra whose producer I believe was a man by the name of "Vincent Montana Jr." I was shocked to learn that he is now almost 80 years old. I never knew he was that old. Back in the day he was about my age when he made it big into the disco scene, and now I admire this man even more.

My best comps by Mr. Montana were those that featured loleatta holloway, and some of his renegade albums, most notably "goody goody." I have chosen the album cover of "goody goody" as my avatar and hope I don't offend anyone, but that cover was one of the most notable disco album classic covers of all times. The album goody goody was mostly instrumental, with his daughter Denise Montana providing most of the lead vocals.

My most "fav" songs were, "Hit and run," "Bus stop," Bio-rythms," etc.

Salsoul orchestra was truly an orchestra with a disco/dance flavor and touch!

Ah, the Sweethearts of Sigma, Barbara Ingram, Evette Benton and Carla Benson. They provided their "back-up vocals" and were on almost every disco album in the 70's and did a lot more "back-up and background" session work for other artists long after disco died. They were "true songbirds" and I loved those three harmonious female vocals "birding" in the background. Sure do miss this type of music on albums!
