    Question Forgotten Heroes? THE WHISPERS

I know Paul likes 'em but they don't come on this board very frequently.

"And the beat goes on" is a classic. A good classic.

I have almost everything they ever performed from the 60's to the present CD Whisper in your ear. The have been the most consistent group in soul music history barring none. I managed to find all of the Solar releases on CD which have been issued by the Right stuff, Sequel, and Unidisc. They not only could do uptempos but they're ballads were always jazzy and inventive and never caved in to flavor of the month.

The Whispers have recorded some great stuff over a long period. What often gets overlooked is their early 70's Philly sessions, things like "One for the money" - "Mother for my children".One of their later tracks i've always had a soft spot for is "Make it with you".

Yup, I do like 'em. My other favorite from them is "Imagination."
    Find them and destroy them!

My favourite Whispers track isn't one of their excellent dancers but the 'Love For Love' mid-tempo track from the '83 LP of the same name. It's just so classy & gives me goose-bumps!:o 8-)

And we forgot Rock Steady. It was also a big hit for them.

    Alas, no video though.

    One of my absolute favourites!

For those who, like this kind of thing, it was legally issued a few years ago by Expansion Records here in the UK on 45...the only 7" issue of the record.

'It's A Love Thing' is one of the records that is guaranteed to
get me up dancing the second I hear it. :-P

I saw them last year at BB Kings in N.Y. ...they were terrific !
