Question Forgotten Heroes? ALEXANDER O' NEAL

The original singer of the Minneapolis Funkband "The Time" was sacked by Prince and replaced by Morris Day. IMHO Alex is a great vocalist and charismatic stage-personality. But underestimated and slightly forgotten!

I like him too Johan. I remember hearing a rumor in the latter 80s that said he got arrested for some underaged sex thing. I don't know how true that is.
My 2 favorite songs are If You Were Here Tonight, and Criticize. I loved the babe in the IYWHT video.

He was probably the greatest singer to emerge in the 80's. My fav was also Monte' Moir's "If you were here tonight" with that great hook in the pre-chorus. Probably my second fav would be "All true man" from 1991.

"All True Man" is a Jam/Lewis highlight for me. Arguably one of the best songs they ever wrote. Honorable mentions should also go to "A Broken Heart" from his 1985 debut.
O'Neal has been releasing albums through the 90s as well including "Love Makes No Sense" (1993) and "Lovers Again" (1996). Both are rather uneven sets with both stunning efforts and forgettable filler. His latest album is "Saga Of A Married Man" (2002) but I haven't heard any of that.
In 2006 Alexander came out with "Lord" - a good gospel/house cut with a very familiar cheryl lynn sample.
    There was life after disco!!
