a massive pop hit here in the UK... can't remember the year exactly but I'd say round about 1972...
"Chirpy Cheep Cheep" - Middle Of The Road
or something like that...

Okay, this is not real disco but 1969 or 1970 soul music. Anyway, You guys are the only ones I can think of to ask.
Does anyone remember a song that had a hook like this:
Where'd your mama go?
(Where'd your mama go)
Little baby boy
(little baby boy)
Where'd your mama go?
far, far away.
I'm pretty sure it was in the top 100 in September 1969, but maybe september 1970.

Those are the lyrics to "Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep" by Middle Of The Road, it got to #1 in the U.K. charts on R.C.A. in 1971. It sold 10 million copies world wide, and I hate it with a vengance.
Was it really a bad song? My only memory of it was the refrain. I was in Junior High and we were working on a homecoming float for the Ogilvie Minnesota homecoming parade. WDGY in Minneapolis had it on heavy rotation that day and I liked it then (I was 14) and thought it sounded kinda motown pop like Jackson Five, or Honey Cone or Freda Payne. Anyway, I never knew what to look for because all I could remember was those few lines from the hook. Did they really have lines in that song that said "cheepy cheepy chirp chirp?"
