    Question Whatz Your Recent DVD-Bummer?

OK, sometimes you rent or buy a movie and you like it or you don't like it.

But sometimes you anticipate a release for some reason. I was waiting for "Two For The Money". Why? because my god, Pacino stars in it and I heard that he gave one of his excellent performances. So I didn't rent it, I immediately bought it.

Yesterday I flipped it in, excited and then....after a little while I, again, began to be slightly irritated by Matthew McCowhatever, a guy that I can usually not stand. The type who thinks he's a talent and can match up to a legend like Pacino. Well he doesn't, he most probably never will. Then things started to be interesting with Al and René Russo but even Pacino can't save this flick from being destroyed by Mattie Handsome.

Result: a definite bummer  The only interesting shots in this picture are the ones where the Merc SL races the streets of New York :-o .

I hope the next DVD that is on my table will save my movieweekend: "The Merchant Of Venice". Again with Pacino and it's Shakespeare, my favourite writer. Or it could be my wife's pick, "Syriana"

So Mattie, please get a job or start a New Age band with other dorks like Ashton Kutcher and Owen Wilson.

Have you girz/guyz had a recent experience like this. A movie that really turned you off????

The U.S. indie "industry" -that usually associated with the Sundance Festival- is producing many hyped turds lately. Two that cross my mind are GARDEN STATE and EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED. Seems everybody copies Wes Anderson nowadays.

Another "fiasco" was the UK movie that opened Sundance this year: KINKY BOOTS. Imagine THE FULL MONTY with a transvestite. He/she does OK, but the movie was dull, dull, dull.

On the other hand, some good surprises: KEANE, HUSTLE & FLOW and, for something unconventional/risky, POLICE BEAT. But the turds are winning.

"The Weather Man" with Nicholas Cage.:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

I also thought "Brokeback Mountain" was wayyyy over-rated.

Thanx for the warning on "The Weather Man". I usually dig Nicolas Cage but I already had my doubts on it. Another 1 that I got recently was "Bad Boys II".

OMG, so over the top! And like you guyz stated: OK, Hollywood is in a deep sleep and our hopes are going to the independents. But we got the same problem there: hyped nonsense. Luckily they still release classics like "Point Blank" which I enjoyed very much.

I also saw a very boring Nicolas Cage movie, it's called ''The Family Man'' directed by Brett Ratner, but he's great when he sings ''La La (Means I Love You)'' :-) .

Didn't see THE WEATHER MAN, but here it went directly to DVD release, usually a warning sign for Hollywood material.

I had forgotten the biggest independent bummer of the year: ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW. Stay very far from this one.
