As I'm sure all of you know by now, former Beatles guitarist George Harrison died last Thursday. As much as we think of John Lennon and Paul McCartney when it came to their songs (after all, they wrote most of them), Harrison wrote a good number of their songs, like "Something" and "Here Comes The Sun". And certianly the Beatles' impact on music needs no introduction. He will be missed.

Absolutely, Outsider. As a child of the 1960's, I've never experienced any other artists having an impact on the music world or the world in general as the Beatles did.

Their music is phenomenal and considering that it was composed in an approximate seven year time period, their accomplishments are staggering. Their music just got better and more sophisticated with each album and they raised the bar so other composers (Brian Wilson, Jagger/Richards, Bacharach/David, Holland/Dozier/Holland) pushed themselves to achieve something comparable every time out.

Thus, a wonderful catalog of music exists from that era, by all kinds of artists.

George Harrison recorded a aong, "Unconsciousness Rules", that was insulting to disco. I am sorry he is dead, but I am sorrier that Paul Jabara, Vickie Sue Robinson, Jacques Morali, Sylvester, Glenn Hughes of the Village People, Sharon Redd, Dan Hartman and other important disco people are dead. I doubt very much that any George Harrison website ever included any recognition of them.

It's not very important but there's a disco version of My Sweet Lord by Roberta Kelly, 1978 !

It always amzes me that people are reading & responding to posts from last November!!!!

I guess George Harrison didn't appreciate Disco--doesn't surprise or bother me. He was an artist of the first magnitude, at least during his stint with the Beatles. They created music that will live on forever and influenced the world around them more than any other musical act that I can think of.

    May he rest in peace.

I would like to respond to you, Marky, as someone who only joined this Forum last month and am now only reading and enjoying many of the posts from the year past....First of all, I know that had I joined last year, I would have been involved a lot more in starting the posts as many of you were like babes-in-the-woods with your questions and remarks and there are a lot of things that I have gathered and learned from the early days online. I think everyone was asking many of the same things I would have asked.

Currently, the questions are 'sometimes' a little more frivolous, too deep, or not as interesting for me (so be it, I am not complaining) as they can veer off in all kinds of directions, but I supposed that happens anywhere over time.

Sometimes the newbies are made to suffer through commentaries like "Oh we covered that already" six months ago....That isn't fair either as I have been accosted with that remark myself once or twice since joining....

I rather like seeing things like the George Harrison post re-visited and responded to again almost a year later. I liked George in many ways, although I did hear somewhere that none of the Beatles, sans Ringo, liked disco....fine...why he wrote that inane song, no one really knows, it went nowhere anyway, so his point-of-view was never really acknowledged and now never will be.

Well, since the thread was brought back, can someone give me the gist of "Unconciousness Rules"? I never heard it or anything about it.
