When I was about 13 the Beatles made Hard Day's Night. My older sister almost tried to kill me 'cos I played a certain part of the disc over and over again. It drove her absolutely crazy!!
NOw when it comes to Disco music, there have been many, many small sections that made the record for me. I won't be greedy (please take note) and name just a few of my favourite bits that still give me goosebumps.

Chic's Le Freak - The lowdown dirty bass notes that are right at the end of the 12" (shame I used to mix out way before then in most cases.
James Brown's Sex Machine - I've always loved the squeaky hi hat pedal that you can hear if you listen closely.
Shalamar's Right In The Socket remix - I couldn't get enough of the synth bits in the break.
    How about you?

The electronic HI-NRG-Break of Donna Summer´s
"I Feel Love", this was in 1977 revolutio-

    Hi everyone:

I get tons of goose bumps - but my all time faves are:

"Lovin' Is Really My Game," Brainstorm - the break later on in the song which speeds up and repeats - featuring the flying violins.

"Heaven Must Have Sent You," Bonnie Pointer and "Just Keep Thinking About You, Baby" Tata Vega version.....two of my REALLY favorite parts are their basso vocal break-outs at the very end of their respective songs.

"Dance With Me," Carrie Lucas....the fast-paced violin break right after the opening and later in the break.

"Summer Love," Musique - the instrumental portion which contains the vocals ("Take Me in Your Arms...etc")..it so reminds me of the year 1978, when I first heard it on Reel to Reel in Marvin Schlacter's office at Prelude on the nicest Spring day on record - pardon the pun.

There are loads of goosebumps moments for me!!

Gotta agree with Blax's bass line in Everybody Dance. WICKED!! I also lve the breaks on "The Breaks" - especially the Go-Go remix version!!

Here is a selection of some of mine ...

ARTHUR ADAMS - You Got The Floor - the main sax solo - probably the best instrumental solo on a disco record, IMHO!

JB's - Gimme Some More - the bit when the sax plays over the JBs chanting "Gimme Some More!". Really cookin'!!!

AQUARIAN DREAM - Phoenix - I love the hi-hat rhythm on the instr. bits. Sounds like they're using a couple of swords, the sound is so sharp!!

SOS BAND - Groovin' - I love the crisp bass and drum percussion arrangements on that one. Turn it up LOUD!!

Same goes for BB&Q Band - On The Beat!!

If it moves - funk it!!

The first 2 seconds of Minnie Riperton's STICK TOGETHER - those strings announcing the gorgeous tune always turned my knees to champagne in clubs, including the times when I spinned the track myself. Still works.

    Right on fellas!
Hey Quinny, the start of Shalamar's Right In The Socket gets me out of my seat. If you don't get it, you're dead.
Blaxman, when I originally voted for "Everybody Dance" by Chic in the first "Top 500", it was because of those basslines.
Danceman, the string arrangement in "Lovin' Is Really My Game" hooks me every time I hear it.
Ah, they just don't make 'em like they use to. Yea, I know. I sound like friggin grampers huh.

    Find them and destroy them!

Personally, I've always loved the way that 'Now I Need You' segued into 'Working th Midnight Shift' on Donna's Once Upon a Time LP. I drive my partner nuts playing side 2 of this classic LP over & over - its just hypnotic, almost gothic & better than sex!!

That much too short instrumental passage in "Don't Leave Me This Way" after Thelma Houston says, 'Need your lovin' baby/Need it/Need it/Need your love right now'.

The 'breakdown' in "Love Is The Message" with the organ after the sax solo.

The intro to "Free Man". Explosive! I can still hear the crowds in the clubs singing, 'Are you free/Are you free/If you ain't don't be FUCKIN' with me'. Nothing like a change of lyric to keep people in the mood.

Since Graham mentioned it this weekend, the 'second half' of "Let Me Be Your Fantasy", from the percussion break to the end. Just wonderful dance music.

Okay... my turn to share about the sections!

Alec R. Costandinos/Sumeria- Golden Tears. The synth break in the middle of the track... incredible. Nobody else has done that.

The first minute of Visa's "I'm a Dancer"... incredible electronic build. Again, completely unique in disco- nothing else like it.

Lemon- A-Freak-A... the song is pretty much a total dud without the whole vocal segment... one of the more creative ones.

Kongas- Dr Doo Dah- Excellent all around track... just full of these Costandinos-like builds (no surprise, it is a Costandinos track)... and the builds are just sooo excellent in this one...
