Wardell Piper also did a fantastic track in 1978 called "Captain Boogie", I downloaded it from Audio Galaxy.
I just got my hands on the follwing 12" singles and I have to say I'm still amazed by how little recognition some people and some songs get. I don't know anything about these two fine female vocalists but these songs are definitely worth checking out.
Mona Rae - Do Me (Quality/RFC - 1981)
When the intro started playing it hit me that this is the song Basement Jaxx sampled for the wonderful remix on Ronnie Richards Missing You (1997 Atlantic Jaxx).
A few dozen listens later, I think that this was one of the best tracks that came out in the early 80's. Breathtaking production and sexy, soulful vocals by Ms Mona. I LOVE IT!
Anyone knows anything more about this lady?
Wardell Piper - Super Sweet (Midsong Int'l - 1979)
I checked the Billboard R&B singles book and this lady has two more chart entries. Other than that I don't know anything else.
Excellent dance track with a 8+ min duration, great build-up and an irresistible break midway. Could be added to a current dj set me thinks.

Australia mate! The land of many great funkateers!
Deep Beat,
Mona Rae released originally that single on Park Place Records. The press you have is the canadian one. The track is great and is produced by that Dave Williams of "Come on down boogie people" fame we talked about a few days ago in another post.
Wardell Piper's "Supersweet" has always been one of my faves (I prefer it over "Captain Boogie"), but is incredibly underrated even among disco lovers. The way it grows stronger and stronger is one of the essences of disco. For the record W. Piper had a later (forgettable) release on SAM in 1983 titled "Come on back to mama".
I downloaded "Super Sweet" "Come On Down Boogie People" and "Do Me" on Audiogalaxy. On 2002-08-20 08:55, Funky Dude wrote:

"Have you seen your mother baby, standing in the shadows?"
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
