Mariah Carey - the new Karen Carpenter

[Mariah] and Karen Carpenter are both about the body. Karen was trying to get rid of hers. [...] I’m sure they’re similar A-type personalities - driven perfectionists who just want to please people so much. Karen’s voice showed a lot of vulnerability - more so than Mariah. She made the words she was singing her own. That’s a scary thing to do when you’re standing in a media spotlight. You lose a sense of your identity. It’s a narcissist thing.

Marcio: have you heard Karen Carpenter's solo album? I like it a lot, but I sure wish they hadn't put a picture of her in her emaciated state on the cover. It has a song that could be considered disco, called "My Body Keeps Changing My Mind" (or something like that). Mariah Carey is undeniably gifted, but I sure could use a break.
