Just a guess: Chilly - For Your Love However, I believe the year was 78
I don't know how I will ever find the answer if someone can help me with this. Anyway, I am trying to find the name of a disco song that I heard back in 1977. It was played by an orchestra. In the beginning I remember hearing these violins and then singers singing, "I would do anything for your love, for your love." Then the violins again and then the singers singing the same words. I don't remember hearing any other words other than the ones above. It was a rich orchestra sound with lots of violins. Sorry don't have anything else to go on. Hope someone can tell me who played this song.

Thanks Macho Man, I don't remember a group or orchestra named Chilly but will search some disco web sites and see what I can find. Do you have any suggestiions for me on where to look, what web sites etc.
There is a soundclip at allmusic.com.
You have to sign up, but it's free.
The soundclip is under Chilly > Discography >Compilations.
The lyrics you quote don't seem to be the Yardbirds 'For Your Love' (which is what Chilly, the Four Tops etc covered).
They sound more like the Stylistics...
"I would give you anything... for your love.... for your love.."
JJ
or are the Stylistics "..but my love..."
Oh I dunno....
Try Idris Muhammed, "For Your Love". The date is slightly off (this is 1980) but it sounds like what you're describing. Very lush orchestral opening, lots of strings throughout the song, the ladies singing FOR YOUR LOVE, I WOULD DO ANYTHING, FOR YOUR LOVE.
I used to play this piece a lot. Couldn't get enough of it. It's on the Fantasy label, 12" cat # D-159.
Correction --- it's IDRIS MUHAMMAD

"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
I seem to recall the Four Tops doing a cover of 'For Your Love'. I think it was on the Catfish LP.

Hi Folks, thanks for your reply. I have more info than I did when I came here. At least I know the name of the artist and title of the song. I will try logging in on allmusic.com and see if I can listen to the song. I have been told it is available on amazon.com I did find it and wrote an e-mail asking how I could buy a copy but haven't gotten a reply yet. Thanks very much for all you help, take care, see you around the site.Pat
