last weekend I was at the airport, loading my luggage into a hotel shuttle bus. It was a hot day and I decided to carry the albums I had bought on my trip with me rather than letting the driver put them in the storage department. The driver saw the bag with the albums and asked me if I'd bought anything "decent". Rather than rattle off the names of artists I'm sure he'd never heard of I just said "disco" to which he replied "nothing decent, then." Well you can just bet THAT driver got a very crappy tip from me. I considered not tipping him at all but couldn't bring myself to go quite that far. I could tell he was disappointed with the tip because I got a VERY insincere "thank you" from him when I arrived home. I considered for a minute telling him why I gave him a lousy tip but decided to just let him figure it out for himself. Do NOT make wise cracks about my favorite music...it'll cost you.

Right on ol'skinflint. I know his comment caught you off guard and in retrospect you can now think of a thousand ways to respond to the ******* comment
Find them and destroy them!
This reminds me of the time I had to give my discomusic.com e-mail address to someone and they remarked something along the lines of, "Oh, that's a funny e-mail address." I just looked straight into his eyes and asked what was so funny. He just shut the hell up and was as nice as can be afterwards.

That must have been that driver's first day on the job...what a moron.
Anyone with half a brain working in a tip job knows you never say ANYTHING that may jeopardize a tip. I don't care if the driver was Steve Dahl (what a great thing to imagine :) ), you don't make comments like that.
