Sounds like maybe "Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll," by Vaughan Mason & Crew (Brunswick Records, 1979)....they did play that a LOT at the rinks when i was doing the Empire and the Roxy....
It has been SOOO long since I have heard this song--used to hear it EVERY Friday night (c. 1979) at the Rollerskate rink!!As a matter of fact I can only remember like the bass line & some of the synth to just part of it. I could hum it for you!!
It's basically a "funked -up" instrumental, with the electronic vocals (can't tell what they're saying though b/c the vocals are so drawn out) and a REALLY funky sound, and synthesizer (yeah, I just described like every disco song!) I don't remember this song getting airplay on regular top 40 but I can see this song getting some on R & B radio back then. Probably around 125 bpms.
If anyone out there can take a stab at this, please do! I'll load your suggestions off the net until I find it---thanks for your help--

Definitely does not sound like Mason, he said instrumental, funky, electronic vocals from late 70's ? hmmm you need to be more specific dude.DanceMan wrote: Sounds like maybe "Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll," by Vaughan Mason & Crew (Brunswick Records, 1979)....they did play that a LOT at the rinks when i was doing the Empire and the Roxy...
OK, here goes again: (I pulled the Mason song, I forgot about that one, but it aint it)
Strong "full, round" bass line (think Chic--I want your love), at points in the song it's all alone:
Ba-bump bump bump, ba-bump
Ba-bump bump bump, ba-bump
Ba-bump bump bump, ba-bump bump bump,
Bump --- bump --- bump --- bump
Sometimes the bass is joined by a "Meco-ish" tinny, synth sound:
Dee-da dee, da dee dee dee (& it repeats)
Dee-da dee, da dee dee dee
Ok, I'm LOL and hats off if you can figure this one out. I PROMISE you, if we can pinpoint this one you will have heard it. I'm suprised I can remember this much after all this time---
Thanks again!! c
