I'm running across lots of old vinyl by artists that I've read comments about here, but don't recall whether they are worth collecting or not. What about Flower ( I think Graham trashed her) or Delilah (what is the hit?) or Cindy & Roy or Rory Block or Phylicia Ayers (Josephine Superstar)?

Last night, I even found A 12" of Pattie Brooks's "Got Tu Go Disco". Haven't listened to it yet. How rare is it?

Hi Marky, Flower's "Midnight Dancing" and "How" are decent enough tracks, though as a singer, Flower was a great model....

Funny how different folks are into different tracks but listen, Flower's CLASSICAL LOVE is THE ONE! Think IF THERE'S LOVE by Amant, it's nearly as fabulous. And yes, Flower was a looker! Get the lp if only for the sleeve.

Continuing here. The Phylicia Allen JOSEPHINE SUPERSTAR is another tricky title. I know many don't think it's anything special but personally I love it all - it's flashy disco cabaret "tribute" to Josephine Baker that it's Star, Phylcia Rashid/Allen now refuses to discuss. A friend of mine met the lady in London and the tone of the interview changed radically once he whipped out the vinyl sleeve. He didn't get it signed. Anyway, the typically catchy Morali/Belolo/Hurtt record is great and it's got The Village People and the Ritchie family doing the backups. The VPs are only on one track but what a track it is.

The "Got tu go disco" 12" by Patti Brooks is not so rare but it is definitely worth having. This is a nice track, with great vocals by Patti and great beats by Instant Funk. Unfortunately, the fiasco of the "Got tu go disco" show dropped it too.

the cindy & Roy "i wanna testify" cut from '79 on casablanca is pretty nice. But i highly suggest Delilah's "dancing in the fire" album from 1978 on ABC Records on the strength of the title track alone. i found a shrinkwrapped copy of that album for 50 cents.

    with kind regards,

I wouldn't say I trashed her, more that she is a guilty pleasure of mine. She's a *terrible* singer, her looks don't do anything for me, but I love "Classical Love" and "Midnight Dancing" in spite of it all.

I'd like to hear this, just for its part in one of Broadway's biggest fiascos

    .

    .

I remember seeing the Cindy and Roy lp in the cutout bins all the time. I also remember some dj friends just RIPPING the 12" from the lp apart. Evidently Casablanca was pushing this lp and 12" HEAVY. I remember my friend Jimmy saying there musta been 5 remix 12" on this, all of 'em crap.

Interesting that someone here likes it. Of course, I find a dj's tastes most times varries GREATLY from what the normal consumer conciders wonderful.
