Belgian Disco Part 2: TWO MAN SOUND

"Que Tal America" is a Disco standard but the group around Lou Deprijck, Sylvain Van Holme (ex-Wallace Collection>"Daydreamer") began with more Latin-flavoured stuff. Lou is also the man behind Plastic Bertrand ("Ca Plaine Pour Moi"), Lou & The Hollywood Bananas ("Kingston Kingston") and French singer Viktor Laszlo.

I went out with the man several times BITD in Brussels, long nights where the ingredients always were: Hot women, Transsexuals, Booze and Big expensive Cigars. The man survived it all and is now living in Thailand where he spends his days with: Hot women, ....:icon_mrgreen:

This is their first big hit: "Charlie Brown"

And when you go to a Belgian party, you WILL hear this medley: "Disco Samba"

This is the Karaoke version, so you can finally singalong!

This is a pretty recent pick of Lou. The jumping singer. The guy with the beard is Sylvain Van Holmen, another legend, coz' he was a member of the Wallace Collection, who's "Daydream" was a big inspiration for Trip-Hop-acts like Portishead. The guy on the congas is Pipo, who I met a few times in a Friterie in Brussels and who's function within the band remains a well-kept mistery :icon_mrgreen:

Great songs, I have the original vinyl LP , called Disco Samba, (great brazilian tunes medley, in my country , Mexico, was a Monster mega hit !!), mexican edition, with original long versions of mentioned "Disco Samba", and "Que tal America", another great song, altogether other minor kitsch thingies like "Americano", "Vas y Maman"... etc.

I bought the album recently from Oxfam for a £1 and I'd say the only track on it worth listening to is Que Tal America. The samba one's OK though.

Two Man Sound were produced by Roland Kluger - he also worked on all the SSO material. I believe he is quite a big name in the music industry in Belgium now - more on an exec level than a music maker.

Yes Pete, he's referred to as the Belgian Uber-Producer. The man's carreer surfaces many musicstyles and was highly succesfull. He founded the legendary Belgian musiclabel RKM (Roland Kluger Music) and also worked intensely with Pete Waterman.

He's also responsable for the Great Disco Bouzouki Band

His son Jean Kluger worked with Daniel Vangarde on acts like The Gibson Brothers, Ottawan and La Compagnie Créole.

The other Belgian bigshot are Jean Vanloo (Chocolat's, Patrick Hernandez and others).

And Eddy De Gucht (Disco Reggae Band Black Slate)
