French singer Sheila who went from popsicle-hits to Eurodisco and, of course, even worked with Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards:

San, this 1's for you ;-)
I loves me some Sheila!:D
We've discussed in the past the manner in which tha American LP front and back cover were designed so as to show B. Devotion dancing nowhere near Sheila...always struck me as a bit racist.
After viewing the videos and seeing B. Devotion, I can't imagine who in the hell saw them as sexually threatening . I wish someone from Casablanca could explain that one.

The change in US record album covers would be the decision of Carrere, then? I'm sure you're right, but then the change makes even less sense.

I believe "Singing in the Rain" was released with the same cover in France and in the United States. Here's the original Carrère cover:
That cover is derived from the photo used on the 12" 45rpm(?) "Love Me Baby" cover on Carrere (compare the two). I'm just wondering why the change was implemented at all, with B. Devotion being pushed to the back of the cover. If it was just a copy of the European album cover (and not some racially suspect marketing, like the Lorraine Johnson Prelude album cover), then all my tinhat conspiracy theories are null and void.
P.S, linkie appears to have disappeared.

You're probably on the money Boodikka. we all know about Madonna's early singles without pictures on 'em, so buyers would think she was a black singer.
Hi Buckaroo! Syncophonic seems well-versed in this area, so I'm willing to defer about the US album cover.
However, as we all know, there were some...interesting album cover decisions in regards to US releases of both foreign and domestic product.

By the time of 'King Of The World' the B.Devotion weren't even featured at all on the front cover!![]()
...ya gotta beat the street......
Thankyou thankyou so much video for putting these videos on here. This is one of my favourite acts of all-time; don't you think the guy with the thick eyebrows is a cutey?:???: ;)

I didn't see the previous links, but apparently there was a Black female member as part of B.Devotion.
"B Devotion" were in fact dancers who mimed to the voices of session singers who included myself & George Chandler on Singing In The Rain & Love Me Baby.
That doesn't surprise me simon, as 'B.Devotion' were french & the backing voices never sounded very french to me (unlike the lovely sheila!), & I was aware that the pre-Chic stuff was recorded in the UK using UK writers & producers. George Chandler was prolific at that time too wasn't he doing vocals for the likes of Love Deluxe & Olympic Runners. Feel free simon to share any interesting snippets/gossip about your experiences!:icon_razz:
