    Carolyn Winters "Crazy"

I like this Hi-NRG cover of the Gnarls Barkley song. I also have a longer dance version of Gnarls, but it's a little too electro for my taste.

Her vocals have an earthy, soulful feel....great floor-stompin' cover!

I only dicovered the Barkley song a few days ago online, and loved it, I was thinking this song is a prime candidate for a extended remix, is that longer version of the original on a CD single?

I will track down the cover too, as I think this song is great.

Monday Night Barkley performed "crazy" on the Letterman show, (it was a repeat which I first saw and forgot :???:) I taped it and played a bunch of times already:D.

Gnarls Barkley's Crazy is wonderful....such a nice change from the usual radio dreck. I believe it spent something like 9 weeks at the top spot on the UK pop chart. I try to figure out who's voice his reminds me of....perhaps a bit like Jackie Wilson or Otis Redding maybe....and later like Londonbeat and Fine Young Cannibals.

The Richard Vission club mix seems to be the mix of choice. It keeps closely to the original but speeds up the bpm to a nice house beat. Others that I've heard are atrocious...taking the vocal and bastardizing it to death (I'd love to go back to the days when no one knew how to do that yet).

In regards to the Carolyn Winters cover, I'm glad Almighty found themselves a gutsier voice for it. This is really working well on my dancefloor.

where do you current DJs get this Dance versions from, online download and then burning it?? I checked for the CD single but is only the original version I find :icon_sad:

I can't find any local shops that sells CD singles anymore, the last place was Virgin and is now GONE!!!:(

I do all my shopping online. It has always been a challenge finding new dance music in this conservative, rock-oriented city that I live (population 350,000)....Toronto had always been my answer but even there now, it's a desert for dance music anymore.

I get weekly emails from music suppliers...most notably Perfectbeat.com....so I tend to buy quite a bit from there (paying shipping prices is a nuisance). They are in the midst of expanding their download service so I'm really looking forward to that. I also download and buy CDR's from Almighty and occasionally order cd singles from HMV in the UK. Buying European releases directly from the UK is usually more cost-effective for me than buying from the states.

I jumped on the cd mixing bandwagon in the early 90's so grabbing downloads and burning my own cds is very comfortable for me....and despite what some professionals may say, I find most downloads to be pretty good quality sound.

Finding music online requires a lot of time but its enjoyable because of being able to listen to sound clips. I've just placed my first order with Juno Records in the UK so I'm hoping I have another new source to rely on.

By the way, my favourite new song at the moment (and best song of the year IMO) is Kathy Brown's Get Another Love....disco-fantastic!:D 8)

Hmmm...now that I think about it, the song is too good to be an original... ....I don't know the Chantal Curtis tune but it likely is. Chorus goes...

Get another love get another love
    That's what I gotta do....

By the way, Juno Records is a winner! It only took 4 working days for me to get my order from the UK.....unbelievable!:D
