    Saint At Large parties

Does anyone know if the "Saint At Large" parties in NYC are related to the 80s nightclub The Saint? And if so do they play classic Hi-NRG stuff?

Yes, The Saint at Large was an organization which was formed to honor the famous Saint night club which was located at 105 Second Avenue (old Fillmore East building) New York, New York. The Saint actually was the first club to thow what are now called circuit parties. The most famous were the White Party and Black Party. Many people dont even know that these parties started at the Saint.

In 1999 the parties thown by the saint at large were not appreciated by real saint old timers see this post

Question: Yes, I have been to The Saint
    Date: 2/18/99

My comments about the 1999 Saint-At-Large White Party. I have attended every White Party since 1986. Joe D'Espinosa didn't do as good of a job as he did last year, and last year was truly a White Party. I have listened to the tapes from last year. They are truly great! Susan Morobito brought the wrong box of records for her half. I understand that there were technical problems from Joe himself (I'm from Boston as well). He didn't start until 12:15 AM, which must have frazzled him. Part of the equalizer wasn't hooked up until Susan started playing at approx. 7:30 AM.

No excuse for this, Mr. sound engineer. Overall, the music selection by both DJ's wasn't my intrepretation of "White" Music. Joe did it correctly last year by playing "In the Name of Love" right at 12:00 Noon (tradition), but he played it around 5:00 AM, out of nowhere this year. I personally had a great time at the party, but the music was sub-par. Overall-- C-

I'll look forward to Michael Fierman filling in the gaps in his half of the Black Party.
I have heard that the new parties are also not really an accurate reflection of the orignal parties. Too bad they are changing the format and many of the (still alive DJs are no longer invited to perform) Many people have actually said the Saint at Large should either change its name or disolve. That would be a bit extreame.

Hope this help answer your question.
