I just mixed a new cassette featuring mostly cuts from 75-77 by Euro-Disco groups and thought...hmmm...these groups all have great stuff, but who was better.... I wont give you my pick for awhile, but I would like to hear yours...

Silver Convention gets my vote. My first bonafide DISCO LP purchase was theirs ( primarily because of "Save Me"). Boney M-- I don't get--too Euro-saccharine for my tastes. DD Sound I only know "Cafe'" (NOT a big fave).

Well,if we must , then Silver Convention. "Save Me" is a great little dance number. I never liked "Cafe" and didn't Boney M do "Pop Music"? Geez... they popped right off my turntable.

    Nicky, Nicky, Nicky !!!

(That's my Randy Jackson imitation from "American Idol"-- if you're not watching--nevahmind ....)

    "Pop Muzik" was by M

Boney M did a lot of kitschy Euro stuff that wasn't very popular here in the U.S.
"Daddy Cool", "Rivers Of Babylon", "Ma Baker", "Rasputin" and the best of the lot, the cover of "Sunny" that is the second song heard in the fabulous "Boogie Nights" (AFTER "Best of my Love").

I just bought a CD of Boney M's Greatest Hits so I could better familiarize myself with their stuff. But it's not to my taste . GIVE ME ABBA ANYDAY!!!! PURE POP BRILLIANCE!!!!!!!

I personally liked Silver Convention....mostly because they had a great big catalogue....compared to the others.....

I worked the Cafe LP as far as I could take it and I think we got some good quick numbers, for a small, fledgling record label, with little dinero, plus it was already competing with the original vocal version import that had been out for months....I liked it mostly cause I was a dancer and you could really do a lot of fancy steppin' to that song with your partner leading you (I always take the female role on the dance floor, who knows why?)...I still play the whole album from time to time.....as far as Boney M.....yes it was too sweet and Euro-airy for me...really could count the times I played one of their songs.....so there you have it....

  Smack me twice and make it nice! Hell, I was close, wasn't I? And from that list of songs you listed by the Boney version of M, I recognize 'nada' so Silver Convention it is!

That is not the same Randy Jackson who is Michael's younger brother....The one on American Idol works at Arista Records...the Jackson 5 Randy is thinner and much cuter....well, in my opinion....

    new thread: who is the cutestJackson 5 brother....without a doubt....MARLON !!!!!

Silver Convention was great, especially the MISSION TO VENUS album. I like DD Sound, but I like a great deal of La Bionda, so that goes without saying. As for Boney M, I always thought my 12" of "Rasputin" made a great Frisbee.

I my opinion the best group is Silver Convention.

Their best song is Another Girl, which was released in their first LP.

    Cheers,

    Dear Friends!
I was as kid a big fan of SILVER CONVENTION,
because they were so massive in Europe.
Correction: The Album is called "Love In
A Sleeper" not "Mission To Venus".
BONEY M. have some really cool tracks:
I like "Daddy Cool", "Baby, Do You Wanna
Bump" and even "Ma Baker" or "Rasputin".
What I don´t like from them is such tracks
like "Rivers Of Babylon", "Brown Girl..."
    or this terrible"Mary´s Boy Child"...
But they weren´t soo bad...just listen to
songs like "Dancing In The Streets",
"Nightflight To Venus", the political"Belfast", "Silent Lover", "Take
The Heat Off Me" and so many others.
About D.D.SOUNDS aka LA BIONDA...they were
certainly better than the other mentioned
    EuroDiscoStuff. "1,2,3,4...Gimme Some More"
was massive in Euro, also "One For You, One
For Me"...I like "Burning Love", "Cafe",
"I Wanna Be Your Lover", "I Got Your Number"
    and so many more.

By the way, NO MORE FUCKING ABBA!!!

Thanks for the correct album name, Sirius. I was too lazy to pull my vinyl copy out and check. I really liked the LOVE IN A SLEEPER album, especially "Spend The Night With Me" (my favorite SC tune along with "Save Me").

Boney M never really ventured away from their tried & tested sound. So, therefore can we come to the conclusion that they were not as...GOOD..as the two ther acts? Silver Convention had tracks with slowish BPMs like "Dancing on the Aisles" which showed some experimental flair, and certainly DD Sound's / la Bionda's "Sandstorm" was very well arranged and played. So - the winner is...DD Sound!!
