That's good news indeed. Some of those tracks were available on a Phyllis Hyman best of import from Japan. Wounded Bird has also issued atleast one Elektra album from Jimmy Smith from around that time period.
Finally coming out on CD, McCoy Tyner's "Looking Out" album! This album is the one with Phyllis Hyman singing on three tracks that some of us have been waiting a looooooong time to be released on CD. Wounded Bird Records is releasing the CD (which I believe originally came out on Columbia) on August 15, 2006. :D

I only just noticed this thread; only yesterday I was going through my 'wishlist' of LPs released in '82 that I'm waiting to be released on CD (there are dozens!) & this was one of 'em!:-P I've never actually heard anything from it (I saw it reviewed in Blues & Soul mag!) but I'll buy anything with Phyllis Hyman on & I love jazz-fusion too. So is it as good as I always thought it would be?
...ya gotta beat the street......
Many obscure Phyllis Hyman tracks where released on an Expansion Cd In between the heartaches: soul of a diva. It includes unreleased tracks, alternate versions, rare soundtracks work like that from the Fish that saved Pittsburgh soundtrack and Miss Hyman as a guest starring on other's albums.
Why are her CDs so over-priced?
That In Between the heartaches album is probably now out of print. Her PIR stuff has just been reissued on Westside/Sequel. Typically if a classic soul or disco title goes out of print, its worth big bucks especially if those songs can't be found elsewhere.
Phylis Hyman was a brilliant singer and anything she has recorded is worht checking out - I'll give this one a look!
