I was wondering, do you's have to put up with ads that play over and over again using a pop song causing you to get sick of the song?

I know on some Australian ads play some pop music and the ads get flogged to death which causes me to get sick of the songs they use. Two examples are:

K-Mart ad (This ad uses the start of the song "Counting The Beat" by an Australian group called the Swingers and now I'm sick of the song)

Mac Donald's ad (They use that FUCKING "Things That Make You Go Mmm" song, I forget the band name but this is a 90's techno song and I'm DEAD BLOODY SICK OF IT as they belt the **** out of it on musicMAX and they ALWAYS put those Maccas ads on TV playing that song which sometimes I can't get the song out of my head. AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!)

So that's two songs I'm sick of "Counting The Beat" and "Things That Make You Go Mmm" all no thanks to bloody TV advertisement. If any of you guys had this experience, what sort of songs did TV advertising make you get sick of?

    FunkyDude--

I didn't know you had K-Mart's in Australia too...

"Things That Make You Go Hmmmm" is by C+C Music Factory. I haven't heard that song on the radio since it first came out, in the summer of '91 I guess.

    Hey FunkyDude,

Ask anybody here how many times they've heard "Days Go By" (a/k/a "Without You", unofficially) by Dirty Vegas and they'll probably help you burn down Mitsubishi's marketing offices.

I asked what this song was when I first saw the commercial. Now, I can't escape it.

Yeah, I'm just trying to get some actors (like that spazz girl who does the hand dance) in those damn CAR commercials that seem to play forever. Hell, I'd listen to LIME songs in a car commercial if I was making some damn money!!!!!

One song that I'm burned out on is Enya's "Only Time", and that's partially because it has been used in so many commercials (and also because it's simply been overplayed to death). I've heard that song so many times that I couldn't listen to it yet again.

And what ads did I hear "Only Time"? One I remember was for the TV show "Friends", and I know there were at least one or two others, but I don't remember. Also, I've heard that song so many times that it seems like I've heard it everywhere.

I loved it when Burger King used "You Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate (I'm the ONLY ONE I guess) and currently the "Strawberry Letter #23" by the Brothers Johnson in the cereal commercial is amusing me.

I said this before--BUT it's DISCO'S REVENGE when the DISCO-HATERS have to hear these songs in their ...uh, I was gonna say living rooms...BUT I'll ammend that to "Caves" or "under their bridges". Hey, Red Hot Chili Peppers actually recorded a song for our "Under The Bridge" dwellers. I was once in an elevator with lead singer Anthony Kiedis and he had BAD B.O.!!!

Now we're getting into the total opposite of the topic of this thread. I for one like hearing disco songs in commercials, as they give those songs new exposure.

To get back to the original thrust of this I agree with FunkyDude that the music in commercials can begin to melt your brain
IF YOU WATCH TOO MUCH TV or LISTEN TO TOO MUCH RADIO!!!!
However, like everyone else I digress.
I actuall y used to look forward to a TV ad that used to have John Handy's 'Hard Work' as the background and A beer advert that had a version of some Charles Mingus ('Hawaian Fight Song' ?) track as its backing.
Now hasn't that got a lot to do with DISCO?
