    is anyone here familiar

with what I assume is a series of recordings on the Importe/12 label called "Prime Cuts"? I saw a double album called "Prime Cuts 1: the Double Dance Album" and bought it just because it was on the same label as "Tantra-the Double Album". Is this a series of recordings? How many "Prime Cuts" are there? By the way, when I got the album home, I discovered that it has 2 copies of the same album (only sides 1 and 2), but it has an excellent instrumental called "Dance, it's My life" by some artist called Midnight Powers, and the quality is pretty good for an album. During the same visit to the same music store I also bought "Musique 2" produced by Patrick Adams. I like it though the lyrics are a bit lame. I wonder why this copy of the album is on Jupiter Records when the first Musique album is on Prelude.

I remember getting this album from the record pool back in the day.

The best cut, at the time, was Jet Boy, Jet Girl, which was an English version of the French song originally by The Plastic Bertrand Band.

Music tastes were changing, and while some other cuts may have been popular here and there, I think the jist of the album was dismissed, though there were Disconet versions of some of the songs. But others may have another opinion on it.

Today, I think the album has a lot of missed gems, and it actually fits with some of the other dance music at that time. Still, HI NRG was big at the time, and rock acts like the B-52's, and alternative music like Yazoo, Depeche Mode and Soft Cell were moving into the clubs.

As far as I know, there is only a Prime Cuts 1.

I also liked "Show Me Yours" and "Blue Light" on Prime Cuts.

Prime Cuts 1 should indeed be a Double-LP collection, Sides 1 -4, as shown here:

"Dance, it's My life" (128 BPM) by Midnight Powers was also released on an Importe 12" (MP-316) with a vocal version (9:10), they sound like the Village People singing "YMCA".

Off the prime cuts LP "Jet Boy, Jet Girl" was used during those 'New wave' years, I remember playing it (it was always requested by a celebrity) during "wave" sets with mixed results, but always worried that someone was going to complain about it, but I guess no one listened very closely .
