    Hillbilly anti-disco song

    *****

Today at The Bargain Store I picked up an LP for 38 cents ( yep .... it was half-off day ) called COUNTRY SWINGS AND DISCO SUCKS by Chuck Wagon and the Wheels ( from the same great state that brought us Gee Dubya) 1979
Oh yes .... there's really a song on there called :
    DISCO SUCKS PT 1
    and DISCO SUCKS PT 2

Part 1 is just angry hillbilly music ( nice slide guitar though ) going on about having an awful experience by going to a disco ( "the girls all look like they came out of a magazine".....then someone very faintly whispers "HUSTLER " ...) ....and how disco wouldn't last but country would ....

PART 2 is quite a surprise though ....the country part 1 fades out and part 2 fades in and it actually is bass driven disco .... all 1:26 seconds of it ..... the lyrics ?
disco sucks .....sucks sucks sucks sucks .... repeat ... repeat ... ( with the sounds of a lady being pleasured in the background )
By the end though the record gets yanked from being played complete with needle scratch sounds , broken to pieces and some hick says "disco disco I know where dis goes "....and as a toilet flushes over and over he continues gripping that it doesn't have " any words about mother , drivin' trucks, or drinkin' or nothin' " .......

Delightful .......and for 38 cents !!!

    Sounds like you got taken!

It amazes me the length that people went to to express their hatred of this particular music genre. One really has to wonder what possessed a group of individuals to invest time, energy and money into a project with, what sounds like, its sole purpose is to sound off about disco music and its evils.

Wouldn't you think at some point one guy would say, "hey guys, ya know, I hate disco just as much as the rest of yous guys, but doncha think we're takin' this thing just a li'l too far....like I'm really gittin' low on my beer money....whatcha say we quit this and jus' go and bash a few queers."

Did we ever see any other incredibly hateful sentiments in regards to a music category as we saw towards disco? Anti-big band, anti-jazz, anti-rhythm and blues, anti-rock, anti-punk, anti-swing, anti-bluegrass, anti-classical, anti-country?

It still intrigues me....and unfortunately, I feel that it still isolates me from much of society even today.:icon_neutral:

Consider yourself lucky. Who wants anything to do with "much of society":razz::razz:

You oughta see these ye-hahs on the cover in their fancy hoe-down duds. Think Randy Jones x six.
At least what the Village People wore was as intentional costumies !!!

The hicks were just jealous that their music wasn't as popular as disco at the time. Of course, one of their own, Dolly Parton herself, recorded a disco-tinged tune called Baby I'm Burnin' in late 1978. Isn't hypocrisy grand?

I remember seeing Chuck Wagon and the Wheels records in the racks. Never heard any of their musack and never knew anyone who did.
Chuck's father should've had his balls ripped off before he reproduced and contaminated the world...:icon_twisted:
