I was browsing youtube the other day and came across a bunch of hilarious music videos I had long forgotten about. The songs I remember well (however mediocre they were), but the videos however damn hilarious they were, have long been forgotten. Thank God for youtube in helping me remember the good times...
Some of my favorites are:
"So Many Men, So Little Time" - Miquel Brown
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-7d3oD8VGM
LMAO - this video was so gay (who cares if a woman sung it). All you'll remember are the sweaty gay men working out in a dirty gym filled with smoke while Miquel walks around looking like a character out of "Conan The Barbarian" trying to 'turn' one of the guys.
"High Energy" - Evelyn Thomas
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5WA7eJqGT8
LMAO again, Evelyn looks absolutely hilarious. The make-up is truly timeless, the white around the whites of her eyes, the overdone rouge on the cheeks, the black dress and the spinning around on the dance box where she invites all the women to come up and dance with her including an overzealous black woman who seems to be interested in more than just dancing with Evelyn! You also gotta love the countless repeat shots of the woman in pink doing a half-limbo toward the camera.
"All Night Passion" - Alisha
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-45XqqbF8E
As Blanche Devereaux would say.... "It was the dress!"
"Coming Out Of Hiding" - Pamala Stanley
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVjJMmtqr5I
I love videos with "undercover" plots, Pamala dressing up in a kimono and being chased around by a guy in a tuxedo. LOL!
"Don Quichotte" - Magazine 60
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHSLOZeAtyw
A woman in a sexy maid's outfit, two guys trying their hardest to look like Mexicans including one that looks like he's wearing a matador's outfit(!). I also love how their "hand claps" are out of sync.
"Centipede" - Rebbie Jackson
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP3Rilb-Xx0
LOL, all I have to say is, "animated lightning bolts"!!!
Would anyone care to add more or suggest some that will leave me lying on the floor in stitches? I'm up for it!
There are hundreds but unfortunately the majority are not available on you tube. You tube's selection represents only a small small offering of actual disco era footage. Most of it is locked away in some warehouse never to be seen again.
Right off of the top of my head here are some that will probably never be seen again.
Angry NYC club owners being interviewed on the news about the lost business and lost revenue due to the unsolved son of sam murders.
The incredible hulk destroys a disco. Trashes the DJ both. Slams the mirrorball down straight through the Saturday Night Fever dancefloor. Club patrons run for their lives.
Sylvester calls a press conference in Washington DC to discuss his arrest for an imposter going around town writing bad checks and then charging a room for themself at the Watergate Hotel. Both totalling to the amount of over $50,000 US dollars.
Drunk hard rock fans telling the Chicago media why they absolutely hate and cannot stand disco music.
Steve Rubell on NBC insulting people who are standing in front of studio 54 trying to negotiate their entrance into the club.
Dallas cowboys cheerleaders 1978 dance rehearsal for their opening day performance at Texas stadium. Linda Clifford instrumental.
Early 1980's extreme slut roller disco roller derby league complete with a Return of the Jedi pit right in the middle of the track. Very attractive early 1980's roller disco women with big boobs wearing very tight short shorts along spandex beating the crap out of each other.
News reports of Basketball superstar and icon Michael Thompson being beaten up, kicked and tossed down a flight stairs inside studio 54.
1977 NYC blackout shoplifter and riot footage. Some of the funniest things I have ever seen! :D
The original actual unedited John Holmes documentary interviews which were stolen and then poorly recreated in the god awful film boogie nights.
ABA basketball game halftime performances complete with musicians, horses, clowns, magicians, and last but not least very very very very very attractive 20 year old female cheerleaders.
Female jogger in Manhattan being harrassed by Battery Park/Ellis Island disco thugs. etc...
I could go on forever with this topic. The internet still has a long long way to go before it gets to where it needs to be. You tube is an improvement and a step in the right direction but it doesnt even come close to offering what is truly out there.
