Was there ever a 12" of Shalamar's stellar Take That To The Bank? I've only seen the three minutes-plus version available on CD, along with a remix that was done in the '80s. I feel that it is too short, and it ranks up there as my favorite Shalamar track.

The version on Shalamar's second LP "Shalamar Disco Gardens" is also 6:10, this has been rereleased on CD...

Most of the main 12" versions by Shallamar can be found on the CD "Shallamar - The 12" Collection" Though I was disappointed that "I Owe You One" wasn't included in the line up.
Also "A Night To Remember" isn't the 12" version it's the album version.
And why "For The Lover in You" was included I'll never understand, I liked the song, but I was always partial to "Somewhere There's a Love" off that same LP, a much better song IMHO;)

I have the 12 inch also with the same amount of minutes and disco gardens on the b side. I also have a double cd with the 12 inch version of that and several of their other hits. I was looking for a couple of tunes that weren't on there myself although out of all the greatest hits cd;s I have ever bought this one is the best.
b lovin her some basslines
I agree with your take here qdearl. I sense most of us really familiar with the stuff enjoyed BITD would agree Somewhere There's a Love is a better choice over For The Lover in You.Originally Written by qdearl
Find them and destroy them!
I always thought "Somewhere there's a love" was very underrated (it was never released as a single). However the third verse of "This is for the lover in you" is Hewett's signature tune. He elevates to such highs and emotional peaks. Shalamar's work as well as all of his solo work, especially the Lp Time from 1994, is nowhere near as popular as what it should be.
My favorite Shalamar uptempo hit: There it is
My favorite Howard Hewett obscurity: Heaven sent you w/Stanley Clarke
