written by Alec R. Costandinos :D

It's not a bad tune , fairly decent even though at 3:00 minutes it's a long ways off from representing the epic musical styling we'd soon come to love Alec for ........ But it really stands out from the rest of the album, the only "disco" song on it .....& definitely was the springboard from which Alec developed his style .....

.................It isn’t so much the song itself that impresses me -----

    - - - - What I love , LOVE , LOVE !!!... :D:D ... is that some enterprising DJs back then found this one little track on this otherwise not usable album and heard in it …..something worthwhile enough to work it into their routines! 8)8)8):D

They just liked the tune .... never having a clue this song was written by someone about to become one of disco's more mega of artists…

Which was the typical story of devoted club jocks back then doing their jobs ...… keeping their ears out , searching for anything from anywhere that might thrill the floor .

The future of disco could be found in this little obscure three minute tune ... and kudos to those inquisitive djs out there ( whoever you were 8) ) that found it, then dared to play it , and thankfully reported it !!!!! ... 8)8-) .....making it disco song #352 for 1975 :D

I think it's really good rem! It has a funkier, 'deeper' sound than Alec's late 70s stuff, which you'd expect form earlier in the 70s, but the biggest surprise to me is the strings at 2.30 near the end where they echo a refrain from Marvin Gaye's 'Whats Going On' (I know i shouldn't analyse too much but i can't help it!). I can see why DJs used this track as it's really classy & almost in the same league as Demis's later 'L.O.V.E.' for disco classiness.

    Something new every day. Wow.

What a great record. If I had heard this- then?
I would have bought it- oh yeah!

Demis Roussos singing/straining from the groin style bothers me less nowadays.
I always loved L.O.V.E, but with a slight tinge of embarrassment.
I wonder what sort of record he and Barry White could have made together?

Come to think of it, I wonder what sort of record could Costandinos have made with Barry and/or Love Unlimited as vocalists?

It makes for a great day when one of these "discoveries" so captures our time-worn imagination , eh Donald? :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool:

I don't mind Demis' voice, I do find his groin style singing almost suspicious though ....awfully Don Ray sounding ....wouldn't you say ??? ... (ah, the eternal conspirator )

Are the 4 female singers identifiable ???
The blond at 2:12 .... she looks to me like Cheryl Ladd!! :icon_eek:

At that Marvin Gaye part I like the way Demis holds his arms out in attribute to its glory .
(And don't worry about being analytical Miss Dee ...I think it adds to the allure of your total package!! )

    Re: Costandinos finally charts !

The one Costandinos record that never charted and never was known to be one in the first place was Mike Henson's "Demiscollection - And The Music Played". I always thought it simply had to be by him but had no concrete proof until a few days ago. The following info was posted at Sir Alec's offical pages at BF by his friend Andy Horringe : "Emphatically, 'yes', "Demicollection" is an Alec record. Alec sings on it, co-wrote songs for Demis Roussos (those songs are featured on "Demicollection"); musically it is identical to Alec's "Love and Kisses" productions. "Demiscollection" is a "Love and Kisses" record in all but name.

In short, Alec is 'Mike Henson'!... "

For those who do not know this track its a 5:58 romantic disco medley of Demis Roussos hits, sounding like a golden period Costandinos record, which it turned out to be! In other words, absolutely essential. It's available as a 2 part 7" and as a complete version on the lp Disco Gold:
    Label:
    CBS
    Catalog#:
    SDC 24
    Format:
    Vinyl, LP, Compilation

    Country:
    France
    Released:
    1978
    Genre:
    Funk / Soul
    Style:
    Disco

in the United States the only record I EVER saw listed on Billboard's Top 40 singles chart with Costandinos' name on it was "Thank God It's Friday".
