I wouldnt be able to make a list because I wouldnt know where to start!
This is my 10 best disco songs. Its not that number 1 is better then number 2. Just 10 nice songs. It was hard to do it cause it so many good.
1. Odyssey "Going back to my roots"
2. People's Choice "Jam Jam JAm"
3. Yarbrough and People "Don't stop the music"
4. Gwen Guthrie "Ain't Nothing Going On But The Rent"
5. Brick "Dazz"
6. D-train "You are the one for me"
7. Chic "Good times"
8. S.O.S Band "No one's gonna love you"
9. K.C and the sunshineband
10. Imagination "Just an illution"
Do you agree with some of the songs? I like the groove in number 6.
I wouldnt be able to make a list because I wouldnt know where to start!
I never cared for the vocal stylings of Odyssey, Imagination, and KC and the Sunshine Band. I thought George McCrae interpreted KC's work the best. Yarborough and People's music and the track by the Sos Band are very repetitious, a bit loud, and I have to be in the mood for it.
I'm not familiar with that cut by the People's Choice but have to of their other discs. Gwen Gutherie's work is post disco that definitely ranks with stuff from an earlier era.
Brick's "Dazz" is definitely in my top 10.
Somewhere in my top 100 are those Chic and D'train cuts.
My list would be just a bit more mellow:
1Unlimited Touch-I hear music in the street
2Windjammer-Tossin' and Turnin'
3Breakwater-Say you love me girl
4Steve Arrington-Nobody can be you but you
5Futures-Party time man
6Brick-Dazz
7ConFunkShun-Ffun
8BBQ-Dreamer
9France Joli-Gonna get over you
10Crown Heights Affair-Dreaming a dream
There's nothing there terribly obscure but most of these songs you hear on soul oldies stations especially on Sunday or on classic cut shows.

#4 is a great listening track... I tried that track and it got no response... of course in the early evening. I considered the Steve Arrington track on LP as the 3rd single choice. It just never went anywhere...
#1 track Unlimited Touch was a huge hit... I love everything about that song.
Remicks-What would your're picks be?
Personally, I favor the soul side of things and stand by every track I have listed. I'm not into the HiNRG/club/house/rap/electro/euro-disco thing. I would also favor early tracks like Archie Bell's "Tighten Up" and Cymande's "Bra".
Hi Eddie!
Its nice you wrote your 10 top songs, cause that was my meaning when i wrote mine. So then i can discover new songs who r nice. Maybe it is like this, that i like more 80's disco and u like more 70's? I like also alot of disco songs who came in 70's,like village people. I like songs with alot of rythm also. I was only 10 years old though at 1978:-D
Hey Junge!
5, 6, 7, 10 are the only ones from the 1970's. Approximate dates are listed below.
1Unlimited Touch-I hear music in the street 1981
2Windjammer-Tossin' and Turnin' 1984
3Breakwater-Say you love me girl 1980
4Steve Arrington-Nobody can be you but you 1983
5Futures-Party time man 1978
6Brick-Dazz 1976ish
7ConFunkShun-Ffun 1977
8BBQ-Dreamer 1985
9France Joli-Gonna get over you 1981
10Crown Heights Affair-Dreaming a dream 1975
PS: I was only 2 years old in 1978!!!! I do like some music from the 1990's and today but for GREAT DANCE AND FUNK music I prefer the OLD SCHOOL like from 1973-1982. These are solid SOUL/DISCO/FUNK tunes but listen to sound samples before you buy if unsure. As another poster eluded, it may be a bit down tempo and OLD SCHOOL or not someone's cup of tea. But this are songs heralded by Black radio's Hal Jackson and Felix Hernandez from NYC.
I like also soul, disco and funk from 70's. My favorite was James Brown ,but its more funk then disco, when i was 15 years old. Then later i liked Bar keys song "Holy Ghost".
I will look on the net, for those songs u wrote eddie. I notice some was quite hard to find.:-D
eddie, Junge, rent 54, even if you've seen it rent it again. You really get a flavor for the music in the clubs around 78, 79.
Find them and destroy them!
ok i will rent it. IS it that film about the disco club studio 54?
Yes, it is. Enjoy it :DOriginally Written by Junge
