Norman-Thanks for this track listing.On the first set,I really only wanted Tenderness "Gotta Keep Trying".On volume 2,the tracks are much more
interesting.If "It's A Better Than Good Time" is the Walter Gibbons mix,its
worth its price for that track alone.Then you've got Ashford and Simpson
"One More Try", TC James Orchestra and Choice Four "Come Down To Earth" and I'm all over this faster than you can say Amazon!

Thommy, I mentioned in another thread that the Walter Gibbons remix of Gladys & The Pips is indeed included in this set. However, the version include is the commercial twelve and not the very rare acetate version (I heard Joey Negro has a copy but the quality was too poor to include in the compilation :( ). I already preordered my copy from Amazon UK last week!!!

Keef, I have a standard 12" copy of Gladys Knights' 'Its a Better than...'. Will this be the Walter Gibbons mix or is there just a regular 12" mix?

Hi Sandy! If I'm understanding your question correctly, there were twelves released with just the album version and not the Walter Gibbons remix. The Gibbons remix has his typical stripped away sound. I know of many a people that found a promo twelve of this song only to be disappointed that it was just the version from their "The One And Only" LP. :(
Bernie has a scan on the site of the same twelve I have from Canada. Note the label does give Walter credit for the remix.

I received my copy from Amazon.uk yesterday. I haven't had a chance to play the discs yet, but I did notice that the Ashford and Simpson cut is not listed on the back cover. :cry:
Could there be different versions of this set???

I just opened my mail to look at the CD and cannot
believe Ashford and Simpson isn't on here.I know
it probably has something to do with clearing the
rights,but why would you list it on the track listing

It seems impossible there is someone around here that does not know this state of the art remix!
This is one of the best remixes ever done. And it is not impossible to be found... sometimes you can see one on ebay nowdays fetching around $ 250. The official release is canadian only and is a chopped and edited version of the truly "impossible" acetate remix (12 or 16 minutes long, can't remember exactly). Can't believe Joey Negro decided not to include the acetate version because it sounds scuffy (with today's technology.....)

Giovanni, the liner notes of the set talk about the acetate - it's about 13 minutes long. I wish he would have included the 13 minute version as a bonus track, maybe with a warning that the quality isn't the best.
I just was told by a friend that Z Record's website announced (I can't find the announcement) they weren't able to get the rights to use the Ashford and Simpson track, so they had to drop the track at the last minute. The tracklisting we've seen on Amazon was the original tracklist before the A & S track was deleted. Sounds like they are as disappointed as we are. :sad:

Well.....I guess as this acetate version is like the Holy Grail he was hardly going to share it with us, but having the Canadian version is nice even though the quality of that is not quite as tidied up for CD as it could be.
Great CD but REALLY disapointed about the A&S.
C'mon Warners there are so many of us waiting and waiting for a CD that includes the early 12" mixes of One more try, Over and over, it seems to hang on etc...
