Let me disagree on that one. My cousin had exactly the same car in those colours and it was a great ride. Maybe it was not the rocket, Mustang was famous for, but on Belgian roads it had enough speed :razz:

The only problem was that those blue stripes on a white car were exclusive for Police cars and after a bunch of fines and legal battles (it was an original import) he decided to repaint in black with a gold stripe.

The Mustang became larger through the early 1970s. Ford lost sight of what it was supposed to be. The Mustang II was an attempt at bringing the Mustang back to the Mustang if you know what I mean.

Was the Mustang II exported to Europe by Ford as a standard model? Or did individuals have to import it themselves with all the aggravation included in that process.

In a previous post you had a photo of your beautiful 1973? Buick Riviera. Was GM exporting those cars to Belgium? I owned a 1974 Cheverolet Malibu (photo attached) , which was built on the smaller GM platform of the day. Back then smaller meant a 350 cu.in. V8! I never remember that car as being an export model, and thought that by then GM had stopped exporting US-platform cars to Europe.

Yes, the Cobra II was imported in Belgium via the Ford dealerships. But even with all the papers that proved it, he was stopped a lot of times by da police and was forced to either keep the car in the garage or have it repainted.

I don't know if the Riviera was officially imported here. I know that mine was shipped by his 1st owner from the U.S. In the seventies we drove Mack-trucks and those came from Germany.

That Malibu was a damn fine car too!!

Speaking of the Chevy Nova... the guys and I at work were talking about the SS versions of these cars. I went to the web to call up some photos and we couldn't believe how much a mint Nova SS went for... $20,000.00 (US)

My 1974 Malibu lasted well over 100,000 miles. But you are right about the styling. GM redesigned it and similar models for the 1973 model year. The 1969 through 1972 Malibu was a sportier car. I had a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass-S (photo attached), which was the Olds version of the Chevy Malibu , it was a nice looking car. In 1978 GM once again redesigned the Malibu into an ugly sedan. GM's problems today started in the 1970s with poor re-designing and increasing quality problems. What does GM do now?

I still like the look of that car. Remember, for us those car were much more exotic than for Americans who saw them daily :-)

A friend of mine has ordered a Shelby Eleanor. A company in the US has started building 'em again. Original looks but contemporary mechanics.

What do u think, should I follow him? Coz' that Shelby is on my wanted list for many years now and seeing "Gone in 60 seconds" a 1000 times just made me even more hoooor-n-aaaaay
