Just wondering if anyone thinks Disco K-tel and other like compilation albums from the 1970's are worth collecting, I have found a few lately that have been in near mint condition.

Only if you don't mind lo-fi, heavily edited versions of songs. They liked to turn a 3 to 4 minute single edit into 2 minutes so they could squeeze in more tracks.
I only buy those compilations if there are tracks on there I haven't heard before and I am curious. Some are worth getting. There's which I think is called Disco Hustle that has the full version of Jakki's 'Sun Sun Sun', although its mixed into other songs at either end. It's cheaper than trying to buy the 12" on ebay.
Disco Funk
I buy a lot of them. I think they are worth it. Especially the disco ones.
They are shorter versions, but sometimes they have songs that are otherwise difficult to find.
I don't think they have much value excepting personal taste.
I also buy the ones with 70's pop and rock.
The K-tel albums weren't the best quality recordings but they were great in letting us hear some songs that weren't too popular. I started buying them when I was seven years old :-o ...so I have the run of Canadian releases dating from '68 to '75. About that time, I think I started to become a little more aware of the lower quality plus I do remember, even at that young age, being pissed off when the tracks would fade too soon...
Because I was too young to go to clubs in the heyday of disco  , the disco compilations introduced me to disco that wasn't played on the radio. The first Disco Hustle double album from '76 had Touch and Go, Cathedrals, Salsoul Hustle (which prompted me to run and buy the Salsoul Orchestra album), the full mix of Turn The Beat Around and my favourite cut was Louis Ramirez' Salsa!
I certainly bought more after that. One of these days, I intend to record them digitally and perhaps be able to enhance the sound a bit (yep...one of these days I'm gonna do that... ;) )
I think it should also be noted that fade-outs on these tracks tend to be very fast.
But we seem to agree that despite the quality and length of the tracks, they have a place in our collections.
BITD they weren't that bad. Sometimes they had stuff on it that was hard to find as 7" or 12" in the recordshop.
This is still 1 of my faves. I play it often
