    Disco Evita cd

I've bought the Boris Midney/Festival Disco Evita cd last week from Amazon marketplace. I've got all the other BM cd's and was really looking forward to this one.
I paid $10 for it and thought i made a good deal since the other copies i've seen are much more expensive.
Anyway..when i got it i discovered that it was in fact a bootleg. And it's this awful one second silence between the songs.
Needless to say i was very disappointed.
But why is the (original)Evita cd so expensive?
It's right up there with Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue..

It's expensive because the first and original pressings of this CD from Polygram / RSO were taken from the original master tapes. I bought this when it first came out and the sound indeed is stellar.

In the late 90s, Boris Midney re-released Evita with modified cover art on Oz Records. While I don't own this pressing, I would imagine it must sound fine since other Midney releases on this label were good.

    Hi:

And what about the sound quality between the Boris Midney Anthology on OZ Records label (1999) and Empire MusicWerks Records label (2005) which says it is remastered.

    Any significant quality improvement?

    Cheers,

Bummer, I just ordered it today from Amazon and thought I'd scored a great deal. Who was the seller you bought it from? Maybe I can cancel the order.

Well,i've bought it from Floridadisks, and i've ordered lots of disco cd's from them and i have no complaints.
All the other Midney cd's i've got from them, and all originals of course.
So i was very disappointed when i got Evita.
It said that the cd were brand new. Maybe they wasn't aware that it was a bootleg?
But the thing that destroyed it for me was the fact that there were pauses between the tracks, cutting them off abruptly.

Can someone please help me here? I bought this CD in New York in the late 90's. Should I put this in a safe? I also dont know why it is now so expensive. I am totally confused. Thanks

If they haven't messed it up totally it should be easy to fix. Just rip the tracks and burn yourself a backup copy with the "no pause between tracks" setting turned on in your cd-burning software.:icon_confused:

I don't get it either. All the other Oz CD re-issues of Midney's LPs are freely available & quite cheap, so why is Evita different? :icon_confused: Did they only do a limited number? I'll gladly swap my Masquerade 'Pinocchio' CD for an Evita one!

That made me laugh. I got Masquerade for the first time on the 1999 CD reissues and was disappointed, never been able to get into it. My problem was getting Beautiful Bend on CD. I bought it twice through Ebay and neither copy turned up. I gave up in the end and ripped it from my vinyl.
