I have been browsing a lot lately on Electro, a particular new sound for early 80's. The vocoder using an anoying smurf voice (but amusing) was often used, frequent hand clap samples. The rapping fights between UTFO and the young 14yrs old talented Roxanne Shante, etc. I do have a few electro records and tapes that I have been working on lately to identify. Here are a just of few of what electro I have rediscovered. Electro was obscure, and wasn't heard much on radio.

    *~ Hashim - Al-Haafiysh (The soul) 1983 (It's tiiiime!)
~ Hashim - Al-Haafiysh (The soul) Johnny Vicious Y2K (a great remix for new millenium)
~ Time zone - The Wild style
    ~ Cybotron - Clear (1984)
    ~ Warp 9 - Light years away
    ~ Pleasure & the beast - Dr.Sex
    ~ The Unknown DJ - 808 beats
~ Herbie Hancock - Rock it (the best known electro?)
~ The knights of the turntables - Fresh mess
~ Newcleus - Jam on it
~ Chris "The Glove" Taylor - Itchiban scratch (now THIS is my fav electro!!!)
~ Chris "The Glove" Taylor - Reckless (1984)
~ Jonzun crew - Pac Jam
    ~ Man Parrish - Heatstroke
~ Man Parrish - Boogie down Bronx
~ Man Parrish - Hiphop Be bop (1982)
~ Roxanne Shante & UTFO - The real Roxanne
~ Roxanne Shante - The queen of Rox
~ Pretty Tony - Fix it in the mix (winner of top electro "smurf" track)
    ~ The Egyptian Lover - Girls (1984)
~ IRT - Watch the closing doors (1983)
~ Quadrant six - Body mechanic
    ~ Twilight 22 - Electric Kingdom
~ Afrika Bambaataa - Renegades of funk
~ Devine sounds - What people do for money
~ G.L.O.B.E. & the wiz kid - Play that beat Mr. DJ
~ Grand Master Flash - White lines
    ~ Boogie boys - Breakdancer (1984)
~ Grandmixer DST - Crazy cuts
~ Kraftwerk - Tour de France
~ Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - I wonder if I take you home
    ~ Praxis - 1984 (1984)
~ Art of noise - Beat box
~ Pumpkin - King of the beat (1983)
~ John Rocca - I want it to be real

I have almost all the records you mention!!
Actually, I don't like electro so much today, and prefer classic soul and disco, but at that time electro was the thing of the day and I played it a lot, especially after visiting some famous clubs in NY whose djs were turning to new things, new wave and no wave, hip hop and electro and even ragga.

Never underestimate your vinyls. One day, when you "relive" the electro era, you'll thank god not having thrown the records away. That was the case with disco I came very close to give away all my boxes of 12 inchers in late 80's when disco music was far in my good memories.

    - My record of the day: Revelation - feel it
If you buy this record your life, will be better.

Yes I know they are sought after. A friend from Rome (he's after electro) offered me big money for my copies of CYBOTRON's "Clear" (it's mint, since I never played -too difucult for the crowd-) and HASHIMM's "Al naafish" (I have a test pressing I bough in NY).
